Default umask when mounting sshfs tunnel

Hello dear mates. Just had a problem that when a user moves or copy a file from the mounted sshfs dir to a shared directory on the x2goserver, if this is a shared folder for a group with respective ACL's we've got a problem with the final permissions. The easy way to solve this is to change the x2gomountdirs to include the umask param. My diff is below. Package: python-x2go Version: 0.4.0.8 Tags: patch The following code is used when detecting color depth on Windows (in x2go/utils.py): return win32api.GetSystemMetrics(2) The following constant actually has the numeric value 2: SM_CXVSCROLL - The width of a vertical scroll bar, in pixels. See e.g. http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/windows/desktop/ms724385(v=vs.85).a… At least on my system (Windows 7), this value is 17, causing python-x2go to incorrectly identify the display as having 17 bits-per-pixel. The attached patch fixes this issue by creating a screen display context and querying it for the color depth. Forwarding based on group membership

Hello, for FreeNX we implemented a hack for forwarding users to certain servers based on LDAP group membership. To do this we wrote a nxcheckload script which returns a different value depending on if a user is member of a group "belonging to" a server. I have attached the script for reference. Is it possible to achieve the same with x2go, forwarding based on group membership? Regards, John.

Install problems session broker

Hi All: Am starting to experiment with x2go session broker and am running into install problems (have same trouble with daemon and x2gobroker-wsgi). I'm using Squeeze. Initially was getting dependency issues with python-wsgi, so upgraded to python2.7. Now am getting: The following packages have unmet dependencies: initscripts : Breaks: console-setup (< 1.74) but 1.68+squeeze2 is to be installed keyboard-configuration : Breaks: console-setup (< 1.71) but 1.68+squeeze2 is to be installed libcups2 : Breaks: cups (< 1.5.0) but 1.4.4-7+squeeze3 is to be installed E: Broken packages root@bc:/home/soho# vserver First3 exec apt-get install x2gobroker-daemon Reading package lists... Q: regarding x2go plugin

Hi All: Am starting to experiment with the x2go plugin, and am trying to run it on a virtual machine. I'm also, as a baseline, working with a separate server where I'm running apache2 and the x2goplugin-provider. Initially, I could connect to the "regular" server but not to the VM. After disabling all the firewall rules (which I'll want to go back and address eventually), I could get the login screen to appear when trying to connect to the VM. However, I still can't actually connect. NOTE: In both scenarios, I am purposely not generating ssh keys, as eventually I want to explore using x2go with SSL. Q: When I initially connect to the "regular" server, I get asked to OK an ssh key, which I do and I can connect. I never get asked this question when trying to connect to VM. Any suggestions as to how to complete this initial experiment on using the plugin with a VM? Thanks!

Hi Stefan: Thanks so much for the ping back….my sense is while what you are suggesting is "the right way", it's not practical for our user base (i.e., to ask them to generate an ssh key, email etc.). So that might bring me back to the other parts of the email - can we work with some sort of encrypted tunnel without using ssh? - does the plugin approach work on Windows and OS X yet (I can't tell from the documentation - they may still only work on linux clients) such that would use SSL and some sort of user login page - or would the x2go-broker approach allow something similar, where a user goes to a web page, logs in, and has an SSL tunnel to connect to the x2go server… Thanks! X2go browser plugin & session broker

Hi All: Currently the people I support who use x2go connect over ssh and are "outside the firewall". This means needing some secure way to get remote users the ssh private key. Q: How do other people do this, where there is no secure connection until the private ssh key is provided? Email doesn't seem to be a great way to send someone a key (e.g., as a password protected file)....maybe try some sort of "user login" web page or drop box? My understanding of the documented way of giving someone a key assumes you are on the same LAN....is that wrong? Q: Does x2go session broker still require ssh even if the initial connection is made over HTTPS? Would x2go session broker be a way to avoid using SSH keys but still provide an encrypted connection? Q: Does the x2go plugin work on Windows and OS X at this point? Would the x2go plugin be a means to connect over HTTPS securely with a user name and password and avoid SSH keys? NSIS installer file for X2Go Client

Hi Alex, I am currently working through the X2Go Client build howto on wiki.x2go.org and realized that there is nothing said about bundling the binary files into an installer. Neither is there an NSIS installer file present in x2goclient.git. Could you share your installer setup (NSIS probably) and commit it to x2goclient.git? Otherwise, I would rewrite one from scratch and provide it with X2Go Client sources. Background: we have an offer on IRC to provide regular x2goclient binary builds for win32 and I would like to get that person on board so that we can share the work load. I gave him the new ip for remote x2go host and he did a copy/paste from Skype to host field in x2goclient. He did a mistake adding blank space after host ip. So when he tried to connect ssh host key verification began a infinite loop asking for accept new ssh key for the ip+blank space. It was very difficult to debug. The tip was doing cat to know_host file you could see [xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx ] <- extra blank space after last ip group.

What I have is that x2go provides a lot more config options like pack, * redirection etc. but absolutely nothing reliable on performance. Do you have any information for me? What I have is that x2go provides a lot more config options like pack, * redirection etc. but absolutely nothing reliable on performance. Do you have any information for me? Looking for keyboard shortcut to move a window in rootless mode on MS Windows

Hi everyone, it seems that there is no obvious keyboard shortcut to open a window's menu (the one that appears when you click on the upper left corner of a window) when running X2Go in rootless (PubApp) mode on a Microsoft Windows client. So, is there one that just isn't obvious, or is there none at all? The problem I'm having is that from time to time, Adobe Reader thinks it's funny to pop up a print dialog window that is partially off-screen - including its title bar! Thus, there's no way to grab it with the mouse to reposition it. Right-clicking the entry in the task bar only offers an option to close the window, so no luck there either. -Stefan

Whereas running X2Go as root is absolutely disrecommended, the attempts to start X2Go sessions as root results in broken session entries in the X2GO database. Either logins as root (with PostgreSQL) should be supported or the session should refuse to come up at all. x2go on Android-dependencies

I summed up what x2go needs to be ported on Android: nxproxy - an application that is needed to access remote desktop. NX protocol makes it possible to run any graphical application on any OS across any network. Consists of 2 part a server side and a client side. For clients we have: Windows, Linux, MacOS, Solaris official site: http://www.nomachine.com/download.php vcxrsv - an application that is an X display server a set of traditional sample X applications and tools, and a set of fonts we also can use xming from what i see in the code. i didn;t understand exactly what is the role of this x server on the application, i didn't find any doc on this. an x server for android: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=au.com.darkside.XServer&hl=en pulseaudio - an application used for sending application audio to another device. PulseAudio is designed for Linux systems. It has also been ported to and tested on Solaris, FreeBSD, NetBSD, MacOS X, Windows 2000 and Windows XP. pulse audio can be replaced with AudioFlinger that is the native android audio system. http://www.freedesktop.org/wiki/Software/PulseAudio/Ports/Android/ Unclear issues: 1. can we use the x2go without the nxproxy, the protocol to compress data?
