Bug#558: Empty $USER env var makes x2go start an infinite loop

Package: x2goserver Version: x2goserver.x86_64 4.0.1.13-4.el6 OS: Centos 5 I accidentally stumbled upon this one: if the $USER env var is empty (in my case that was a bug in my .bashrc that generated that), then X2GO doesn't properly reject and log the connection attempt. The client freezes in 'Connecting' state and the sqllite scripts seem to enter an infinite loop trying to do insert session. Once I kill the x2gostartagent process, I get the list of calls in x2gosqllitewrapper.pm and can see that the provided session ID is missing the username part (as USER is empty). Instead of being stuck in session insertion, the fact that USER is empty should be caught earlier, properly reported in syslog and session cleanly rejected.

mac os x client timeout

I use x2go to connect to Centos VM running in Virtual Box. When i put the Mac to sleep over night and open it in the morning, ssh session stay connected, but x2go disconnects with a timeout error. Incidentally, the x2go client also freezes and I have to force kill it. Is it possible to configure the timeout to prevent it from disconnecting? Thanks!

Hi I am the release manager of Elexis (http://elexis.info/) An Eclipse RCP program for all aspects of a (Swiss) medical practice. My pet project is https://github.com/ngiger/elexis-vagrant which should be part of an easy Puppet based setup for the whole infrastructure of typical (small) medical cabinets in Switzerland. Under https://forge.puppetlabs.com/ngiger/x2go you find a puppet module which supports * setup of a x2goclient * setup of a x2goserver * setup of a x2go thin client environment which allows me to have a reproducable installation I see that you are running many Jenkins-CI jobs under http://jenkins.x2go.org:8080/, but as far as I see there is non with hardware in the loop. Are there any scripts/ideas laying around on how to test automatically a x2go tce build, eg. checking whether login, mouse and keyboard work? We are testing a setup with x2go thinclients, which works fine when I install Debian Wheezy. I think this is called "dragging" the window. In contrast, when I interact with the VM's local display, window dragging works fine. Also, in published app mode, window dragging works. (However, the windows have the Windows OS title bar instead of the E17 title bars.) Server setup & Steps to reproduce: Bodhi Linux 2.4.0 64-bit VM with all the latest updates (Based on Ubuntu 12.04) Host: Fedora 20 64-bit KVM/virt-manager with the latest updates "enlightenment" package version: 20130818-1 Enlightenment set to "Bare" desktop. Package: x2gobroker Version: 0.0.3.0 Severity: normal When a broker has multiple profiles with mutually exclusive host lists but a shared database session state is appropriately sent to the client when listing sessions but if a user attempts to select a non-suspended profile the suspended (different) profile will be resumed instead. Draft patch attached which filters both load balancing decisions and resume decisions based on server_list for selected profile. Patch is really only a handful of lines but indentation of other lines bloats diff.

What do you mean by this? See bug 551 for what I experienced, I have a screenshot. If you are experiencing a different problem, please provide a screenshot if you can. 2. I produce this bug by selecting "Fullscreen" in Session preferences -> Settings -> Display. It happens whether or not Xinerama is enabled. The X server does apppear on Display 2, which it should. However, it appears that the X11 desktop is being limited to the size of Display 1, leaving the black border on the rest of Display 2. The X11 mouse cursor does show up in the black border area.

I was unable to produce it with Xinerama disabled, but that might be random chance. When it does occur, there are no window decorations (like you'd expect), but the X server only takes up the size of display 1, 2048x1152. It appears in the top left corner of display 2. (The screenshot makes this clear.) This might be a duplicate of #462. However, more info is needed about that bug.

Also, references/links should be inserted throughout the wiki. I've added a few. Also, I tried to add a link to it on the "X2Go Documentation" box on the home page, but when I did so, the Documentation box became taller than the "Get Support" box, which in turn looks like crap. When I tried to add a single newline to the "Get Support" box according to the documentation here: https://www.dokuwiki.org/wiki:syntax#basic_text_formatting I instead added 2 new lines, so the "Get Support" box became taller than the "X2Go Documentation" box. -Mike#2

This issue does not exist when I use pyhoca-gui on the windows client. I am attaching my syslog entries for x2goclient and pyhoca-gui as session.log did not provide any errors or additional information regarding sshfs. Upon further testing, I found that the following: 1) problem happens when using NXFree with NoMachine client 2) problem happens using plain X11-Forwarding when the app window is dragged to a second monitor 3) problem does not happen when using windows X2GO client. I guess this is an XQuartz bug then. Any guidance on capturing logs to submit to XQuartz project would be helpful. Thanks in advance

Package: x2goclient Version: 4.0.2.0 on Centos 6.5 Server: x2goserver-4.0.1.13-4.el6.x86_64 x2goagent-3.5.0.22-1.el6.x86_64 x2goserver-xsession-4.0.1.13-4.el6.x86_64 On Mac OS X 10.9.3, x2goclient 4.0.2.0 with XQuartz 2.7.6 (have not tested Windows client) When using Intellij 13.1.3 (latest) running with Java 1.7.0_45, I use the "Navigate to File" or "Navigate to Class" feature by hitting Ctrl+N or Ctrl+Shift+N or selecting from the menu. Intermittently, that popup window that comes up, appears to be "blinking" or getting repeatedly redrawn. At the same time it is not taking any input. Hitting Escape or clicking outside of this popup, closes it, and, if the commend is iinvoked again, the window may come up properly or blink again. Please let me know where i can find the logs and i will gladly provide them. Thanks

Here's what I am going to do: I am going to revert those 2 offending commits on the release/4.0.2.x branch, and release 4.0.2.1+hotfix1 for Windows with them reverted. I will mark them as fixing this bug. (There has been and will be no 4.0.2.1 for Windows because of this bug.) For the main branch (4.0.3.0-preview), I will clone this bug, and will not revert those 2 commits. We will figure out how to fix the bug without fixing these 2 commits, which are very useful. I've spent a bunch of time but cannot figure out how to do so.

If a start a session, log out of the session gracefully, and then start that session again: The pulseaudio.exe process stays running after the 1st session ends, and this bug does not occur. 3. If I do what I originally mentioned to produce this bug: The pulseaudio process is ended after I disconnect, and then a new one is started for when I go to reconnect. (And this bug is triggered.) 4. Sometimes I am unable to reproduce this bug. I think that if you start a session, end that session gracefully, start that session again, disconnect, and then reconnect, then this bug does not occur. I did not investigate this fully.

Hi Mike#1, Bug 546 in x2goclient 4.0.2.1 is very bad, even though it does not meet the definition of "grave". I have not build the official 4.0.2.1 for windows yet. May I do the following: 1. Determine the fix. 2. Commit the fix to the release/4.0.2.x branch 3. Build the branch with the fix and call the released build "4.0.2.1" Or can we just commit it, and release 4.0.2.2 in rapid succession? I know you are the release coordinator. -Mike#2

Hi guys, So Stefan Baur mentioned that he cannot deploy X2Go Client 4.0.2.0 for Windows to his clients right now without these 2 commits, and preferably the 3rd commit also. There will be no nightly 4.0.2.1 builds for now. The nightly builds will be 4.0.3.0 instead. To avoid likely confusion, I deleted the 2014-07-09 nightly build, since 2014-07-09 was when decided to split 4.0.2.1 onto its own branch with fewer changes. Granted, the windows build scripts need some improvements. However, If I understand the build scripts correctly, improving the windows build scripts to the point that they have feature parity with the linux build scripts still would not enable us to produce 4.0.2.1 nightly builds. This is due to branch naming. Anyway, every time someone needs me to, I will produce a new 4.0.2.1 preview build at my earlier convenience. Remember, we intend to release 4.0.2.1 by the end of Friday anyway, -Mike#2

In preparation for the upcoming release of X2Go Client 4.0.2.1 (which is now due by the end of Friday, July 11th) a new preview build (pre05) of X2Go Client for Windows is available to download under: http://code.x2go.org/releases/binary-win32/x2goclient/previews/4.0.2.1/ It is based on commit 650e1ec. http://code.x2go.org/gitweb?p=x2goclient.git;a=commit;h=650e1ecf11fac09a52d… Note that 4.0.2.1-pre05 has fewer changes than 4.0.2.0 than 4.0.2.1-pre04 did for reasons explained in this email thread: http://lists.x2go.org/pipermail/x2go-dev/2014-July/007751.html Basically, the backstory and the reasoning is "Too many large and risky changes were scheduled for 4.0.2.1. Especially the fixes for #159, and its regression #525. So we are pushing those large changes to 4.0.3.0, and releasing 4.0.2.1 now with a smaller and safer set of changes." Note that the change to how the fonts are packaged has been reversed because that is a fairly large change that belongs in 4.0.3.0, not 4.0.2.x. So the "miscfonts" and "fullfonts" builds are back again. -Mike#2
