Hey Alex, Can you explain why libssh-0.6.3 fails to build under MinGW 4.8.2? libssh_threads.dll fails to build; libssh.dll builds successfully. However, lib\libssh.dll.a is never generated. The exact version of MinGW used is listed on the wiki page. http://wiki.x2go.org/doku.php/wiki:development:build-howto-mswin:x2goclient… It's the same version as QT 4.8.6 tells you to install, except it's "rev4" instead of "rev3". Hi guys, I've started investigating or working on multiple tasks, but never finished them. These are going to be my priorities for the next few months: 1. Fixing any major bugs/regressions in X2Go Client for Windows before we release 4.0.3.0 (due next month probably.) 2. Providing any security fixes for 3rd party components in X2Go Client for Windows. 3. Getting any GNOME3 compatibility fixes/packages into Debian 8 Jessie, Ubuntu 14.10 Utopic Unicorn, and Fedora 21. I will prioritize those distros in that order. 4. Adding support for new desktop environments in X2Go before we release X2Go Client 4.0.3.0. The changelog mentions the work that I and my friend (Mike Frederick) did on the Pageant patch to port it from libssh-0.5.x to libssh-0.6.3. The libssh-0.6.3 version of the patch is here: http://code.x2go.org/releases/source/libssh-modified-by-x2go-project/implem… I will try to upstream it. It was rough around the edges previously, and it still is. We will probably have to revise it in order to get it upstreamed. Hence why I put the git commit hash in the patch name; it's the way of denoting the exact patch version. I am unable to restore x2go sessions that have been suspended due to network connections on x2goserver-4.0.1.15 / gentoo. Fortunately properly suspended sessions have been restoring well, so that's good, but network disconnections do happen and it would be great to have that working. Is 4.0.1.16 beta or rc planned any time soon? Since the git tree has debian specific stuff, I wonder if some non-debian squashed patch can be generated I could apply to to Gentoo 4.0.1.15 tarball to test the latest fixes for #302?

This is why I believe I should fix this bug: 1. Every Windows program searches its own directory for DLLs, before searching the PATH and cwd. This is the design of Windows. We can fix X2GoClient being able to start successfully with your cwd being different by including VcXsrv\zlib1.dll. There is no need to register the DLL system-wide. And it's not a cygwin DLL anyway; its a native Windows binary built from the VcXsrv/VcXsrv-xp source tree. 2. On my system, I can launch X2Go Client successfully from another cwd. This includes x2goclient.exe, vcxsrv.exe, sshd.exe (cygwin) and nxproxy.exe (cygwin). The only reason vcxsrv.exe does work is that I have c:\gnuwin\bin\ZLIB1.dll in my PATH, where as most users likely do not have any zlib1.dll in their PATH. (I determined this using Dependency Walker.) 3. My manual build instructions state that I should include VcXsrv\zlib1.dll. During the manual build process, I included VcXsrv\xwininfo.exe instead of zlib1.dll. 4. We should provide vcxsrv.exe with its own zlib1.dll. I think I'm seeing this bug at work on one specific client and one specific server. We were purposely using an old version of x2goclient (4.0.0.3) and x2goserver/nx-libs. I haven't investigated it further because the funding for this specific use case is about to end. However, note that I think this happens when the vcxsrv.exe process's window (the actual remote desktop window) is minimized, not when the x2goclient.exe QT4 window is minimized. Also, it seems to happen after about 10-30 seconds of the window being minimized, not 7-12 minutes. And when I try to reconnect, it works, but the session is suspended, so I have to resume it 1st. The need to resume it might be bug #511.

Package: x2goserver Version: 4.0.1.13 Notes: 1. I am not sure if this is a bug in x2goserver, x2goserver-xsession, or in nx-libs. 2. This bug is probably in X2Go's integration with ConsoleKit (or lack thereof.) PolicyKit depends on ConsoleKit (and on systemd-logind in newer distros.) 3. RHEL7 beta (systemd-logind) is not affected and pkexec commands do work. However, PolicyKit authentication within apps fails. I will file a separate bug about this. 4. I also tested Ubuntu 12.04.4 LTS 32-bit (ConsoleKit) with Unity and with MATE 1.6. On that distro, polkit-gnome-authentication-agent-1 (Unity) & polkit-mate-authentication-agent-1 do start, but pkexec commands fail for another reason (the app complains that it cannot open the display.) A simple workaround for this case is to export XAUTHORITY 1st, I will file a separate bug about this. 5. polkit-gnome-authentication-agent-1 is started as gdm, but it should be started as the user also. PolicyKit depends on ConsoleKit (and on systemd-logind in newer distros.) 3. The behavior seems to be distro-specific and/or app-specific. 4. This bug report differs from 458 because PolicyKit authentication is being called within an app, not when launching the app. This is part of the PolilcyKit architecture: The apps run unprivileged and rely on PolicyKit in order to speak to privileged processes that do the actual task. For example, in test case 2, gpk-application is launched unprivileged. It uses PolicyKit to speak to the PackageKit backend, and the PackageKit backend does the package install. Test system: Fedora 20 64-bit MATE Desktop 1.6.2.1.fc20 - used for all 3 test cases x2goserver 4.0.1.13.2.fc20 x2goserver-xsession 4.0.1.13.2.fc20 nxlibs 3.5.0.22.1-fc20 (This distro uses logind) (/usr/libexec/polkit-mate-authentication-agent-1 is launched automatically when I login over X2Go. This distro is not affected by bug 457) Test Case 1: Steps: 1. Launch yumex (from start menu or from console) 2. Switch to the yumex's "history" tab on the left.. Expected result: A policykit authentication window opens up, I select a user to authenticate as (myself or root), enter my password, and then the history is populated within yumex. Instead, I get an error message windows. When I click "Close" on the window, yumex closes. Click "Apply Changes" Expected result: A policykit authentication window opens up, I select a user to authenticate as (myself or root), enter my password, and then the package is downloaded & installed (over the course of at least a few seconds), during which a progress bar is displayed. (Interestingly enough, the package is still selected to be installed, but the "Apply Changes" and "cancel" button are hidden. This is a bug in gpk-application, it does not know how to handle policykit having an error. But this gpk-application bug is besides the point.) Bug#503: Can't start X Server, please check your installation

I have come across this problem as well, but my situation is a bit different (odd.) I originally setup the x2go client on my work laptop and it connects just fine. I wanted to add it to my personal laptop (both run Win7, but home is regular and work is Professional) and that is when I run into this issue. I've tried uninstalling and removing the registry entries for the application, no-go. Is there a workaround for my situation? Thank you, David Christensen
