Bug#462: Display Size Issue

Sorry for the long delay. Still having this problem. Not sure why. I'm running the latest version of x2go for Ubuntu (4.0.1.180-949), and the latest Windows client (4.0.1.3 build2) I have a Dell primary and Samsung secondary display. They are both 1920x1080. I have the desktop set to extended mode. I configure x2go to use the entire display (#2). What happens is I can get it to go full screen, but some reason it only thinks my secondary display has 1920x1040 available for it (as reported by xdpyinfo). I've checked the Windows resolution settings and they say it's a 1920x1080 monitor. There might be some sort of issue where 'xrandr' might have set it to the wrong value. I'll check that, but I don't think that's the issue. Thx Jim burnes

Bug#612: x2goclient does not honor export from broker

Package: x2goclient Version: 4.0.2.1 Severity: major Hi, it seems x2goclient does not load export (local folder sharing) from broker. Direct connect with local session profile is ok. My x2gobroker_sessionprofiles.conf contains export directory and disable printing, however, when using x2goclient with broker, it still forwards spooling directory & does not mount exported directory. If i create a session profile in client workstation, and use x2goclient directly, printing can be disabled and local directory can be forwarded. Look at the source code, file onmainwindow.cpp, method exportDefaultDirs load X2goSettings directly without consult config.iniFile. I have attached here a patch that modifies exportDefaultDirs() to use config.iniFile incase x2goclient using broker mode. The patch works with x2goclient linux. I am not familiar with compiling x2goclient in Windows env, therefore I am unable to test with x2goclient in Windows. Any comments? Thank you very much for such a wonderful project. Regards, msongd.

Package: x2godesktopsharing Version: 3.1.1.1 I installed x2go server and client on different machines under Gentoo Linux. I can start a new session just fine. Desktop sharing does not work because there is no ebuild for it in Gentoo. I am trying to fix that, but there is no Makefile in the x2godesktopsharing tarball. There is no INSTALL information file either. Clearly an applet needs to be compiled so the user can allow desktop sharing. A Makefile or instructions on how to compile the x2godesktopsharing applet need to be added to the tarball. I run kde-4.12

Hi Mike#1, I successfully tested both folder sharing and PulseAudio audio playback when using Dash. (I manually replaced sh.exe on my system with x2goclient for windows installed.) (woglinde suggested these 2 tests.) I expect to have the nightly Windows builds and build instructions updated within a few days. Please do not release x2goclient 4.0.3.0 until then. (We're also trying to fix #616 before 4.0.3.0 is released.) -Mike#2

X2Go-WinBuilder VM disk space issue

Hi Mike#1 and others, A few hours ago, the D: drive of the X2Go-WinBuilder VM had about 3GB of space free. I was installing mingw 4.8 on it (about 1GB), and was trying to clear up space, when all of a sudden it ran out of space. I am not sure why. Don't be surprised if nightly/jekins Windows builds fail for now. The builds take place on D:. I will try to clean up space when I get home at the end of today. I will use WinDirStat to find the disk usage. Also, Mike#1, if you could increase the size of virtual hard disk for drive D: that would be much appreciated. Once you do, I can go into Windows disk management and extend the NTFS partition & filesystem to use the new space. You have my permission to shutdown the VM to do this. -Mike

Bug#626: NX agent dies not reliably remove socket files under /tmp/.X11-unix

OK, to summarize the scenario: - A normal user connects, gets the first display :50, runs his session. /tmp/.X50-lock and /tmp/.X11-unix/X50 are owned by this user. - The user decides to killall -u username -9. (Don't ask. The actual story was that the logout process didn't complete, and he tried to clean up behind him, having accustomed to use kill -9 all the time.) - This kicks the user's nxagent out of business (the same would happen if it simply crashes), which prevents it from cleaning up the sockets in /tmp. - Another user connects, and also gets assigned the first display (because, for some reason, x2go is convinced it's free again). His x2go processes are not permitted to remove and recreate /tmp/.X50-lock and /tmp/.X11-unix/X50, and the window manager dies immediately. All users besides the initial user are locked out of x2go from now on. Manual workaround: Remove stale /tmp/.X??-lock and /tmp/.X11-unix/X??. Apply LART to users of kill -9 against nxagent. Automatic workaround: x2gocleansessions should probably take care of the /tmp file removal. LART will still need to be applied manually. A "real" fix would move the usual, immediate cleanup step out of the user's control. This could, for example, happen by a daemon running as root, that spawns a nxagent at a user's request, under the user's UID. Once the nxagent dies (from whatever cause), the daemon's SIGCHLD handler does the cleanup. This would also remove the race condition (up to 2s delay before the sockets are cleaned up; connection of new users may be impossible in this time window) introduced by the aforementioned "automatic workaround". Another, much simpler possibility would be to use randomized/uniqe socket names instead of the fixed /tmp/.X${DISPLAYNUM}-lock / /tmp/.X11-unix/X${DISPLAYNUM} scheme. Package: x2goserver Version: 4.0.1.15 Server OS: Centos 6.5 x86_64 Server X2go Version: 4.0.1.15 (installed from source) Client OS & version: Windows 7 Professional, Version 6.1 (Build 7601 Service Pack 1) Client X2go Version: x2goclient-4.0.2.1+hotfix1+build4-fullfonts When using a single client machine to connect to two x2goserver machines with two simultaneous x2goclient processes, the second client session corrupts the first one because they both connect to the client using Display port 50. The first x2gosession is unresponsive and must be killed manually. Shouldn't x2goclient break with a warning about conflicting ports? Is there a way to configure each x2goserver to connect with a different range of ports? (i.e. the same as when configuring each Freenx server with a unique DISPLAY_BASE variable in /etc/nxserver/node.conf) In addition, once the x2gosession is corrupted on the first machine, then even after reboots, any new x2gosessions start up OK, but if they are resumed, both server & client log files say it resumes, but the x2go window never appears on the client's screen. Does something need to be cleared in the server's database?

It's working in the Linux x2goclient, both ctrl-print screen, and single print screen to capture full desktop. The setup in use is the kind of X2GO acts as a gateway/proxy to a windows 2008r2 Server using xfreerdp to connect to a windows server. *Server Info* No LSB modules are available. Bug#623: x2goserver update to 4.0.1.16 breaks x2go

Package: x2goserver Version: 4.0.1.16-0~935~ubuntu14.04.1 After the apt update to x2goserver 4.0.1.16 it is not possible to create new connections to the x2goserver. It must be connected to the modifications in the location of the session directories. There was no server restart after the update (and can also not be executed), there were suspended and active sessions from the old x2goserver. Any try to create a new connection ends up with the client status hang during "Starting" followed up by a time out error after a while. The syslog is filled with messages like this: Oct 2 08:28:12 ikkatrinsrv1 /usr/sbin/x2gocleansessions[12589]: neumann-77-1411537406_stRxfce4-terminal_dp32: state file for this session does not exists: /tmp/.x2go-neumann/C-neumann-77-1411537406_stRxfce4-terminal_dp32/state (this can be ignored during session startups) The system is an Ubuntu 14.04.1 LTS on the most recent state. These other x2goserver related packages (x2goserver-extensions, x2goserver-fmbindings, x2goserver-printing, x2goserver-xsession) are also installed and at version 4.0.1.16. The remaining server configuration is complex using LDAP users and tmpreaper to regularly clean up tmp - but these directories are protected from clean-up '/tmp/.X11-unix /tmp/.x2go*'. It always worked with 4.0.1.15 and I truly liked the functionality of the x2go software.

Package: libnx-x11 Version: 3.5.0.27 Server OS: Ubuntu 12.04.5 LTS I have a segfault crash when using some applications that use Qt inside X2GO. Looking in the bug list, i found a similar problem in ticket #410 The same links are missing and after manually creating then all applications runs fine. The missing links are: /usr/lib/nx/X11/Xinerama/libNX_X11.so.6 -> /usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/libX11.so.6 /usr/lib/nx/X11/Xinerama/libNX_Xext.so.6 -> /usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/libXext.so.6 I cant test it on the latest Ubuntu release (14.04) but i checked the package and the links are missing yet.

How should the new desktop environments be listed in X2Go Client?

Hi devs (and users), For X2Go Client (4.0.3.0): Bug #571 is to add Cinnamon Bug #607 is to add Openbox Bug #608 is to add IceWM Bug #609 is to add Trinity 1st of all, should I list them in all caps like the others? UNITY for example is actually written as "Unity" on its project page, but we list it on all caps. 2nd, in what order should they be listed? The current list of desktop environment sessions in X2Go Client is: KDE GNOME LXDE XFCE MATE UNITY (other types of sessions) Mike already told me to add them below UNITY, which I agree with. There are 3 reasonable orders I can think of: 1. List them in alphabetical order: Cinnamon IceWM Openbox Trinity 2. List the full desktop environments before the window managers, list them in alphabetical order: Cinnamon Trinity IceWM Openbox 3. List them in descending order of popularity (this is just my educated guess on their popularity): Cinnamon Trinity Openbox IceWM -Mike#2

Mike#1 (or anyone else who can answer this), You linked me to this MATE commit as an example of how I should add Cinnamon support to x2goclient (bug #571): http://code.x2go.org/gitweb?p=x2goclient.git;a=commitdiff;h=468be3aa8d457ec… I thought that x2goclient merely specified a session type with a string like "MATE". So I do not understand the logic in ONMainWindow::runCommand() and SessionButton::slot_cmd_change( const QString& command ), where command is changed from "MATE" to "mate-session" and then back. With my proposal for fixing #569, there are 3 possible commands that can be used to launch Cinnamon. -Mike

x2goagent failing to start on Fedora Rawhide

I'm trying to test out x2go with x2goserver running on Fedora Rawhide, and x2goclient running on F21. session.log shows: Info: Listening to X11 connections on display ':50'. Info: Established X client connection. Info: Using shared memory parameters 1/1/0/0K. Info: Using alpha channel in render extension. Info: Not using local device configuration changes. Error: Aborting session with 'Could not open default font 'fixed''.
