Question about VERSION file in NXCOMP

Hi al, I have a question about the VERSION file that you use in the nxcomp directory, it seems to be fixed at 3.5.0. Is there any reason not to update this? Have you found any issues? I know there is negotiation about the minor and major versions in between the client, but the patch version doesn´t seem to be affected. This is basically to be able to track errors and be able to match them up with the commits, Please let me know if this makes sense, Regards, Nito

I compared the contents of the installed PyHoca-GUI 0.5.0.0-pre02 folder to the dist folder and I noticed that win32gui.pyd is missing from the dist folder. Manually copying it over worked around this bug. I would like to properly fix it though.

When I built PyHoca-GUI 0.5.0.0-pre02 for for Windows, I used the latest Windows build of PyCrypto, 2.6, available here (and linked to from the wiki): http://www.voidspace.org.uk/python/modules.shtml#pycrypto Unfortunately, there is a vulnerability (CVE-2013-1445) in 2.6. 2.6.1 was released to fix it: https://github.com/dlitz/pycrypto/blob/7fd528d03b5eae58eef6fd219af5d9ac9c83… I am attempting to find a Windows build of PyCrypto 2.6.1 for Python 2.7 32-bit. This is blocking my release of PyHoca-GUI 0.5.0.0 for Windows. if I cannot find one, I will try to build PyCrypto 2.6.1 myself. I welcome any help. -Mike#2

Dang Nabbit, OpenSSL 2014-10-15 vulns and X2Go Client for Windows

So more OpenSSL vulnerabilities were announced yesterday: https://www.openssl.org/news/secadv_20141015.txt And OpenSSL 1.0.1j was released. My normal process would be "Update Cygwin OpenSSL binaries and Win32 OpenSSL binaries and then re-release X2Go Client for Windows 4.0.2.1 with a new build # at the end." However, 1. We are about to release X2Go Client 4.0.3.0. 2. I recently discovered that VcXsrv also bundles a copy of OpenSSL in its source tree.[1][2] It then appears to statically link against it. I do not know exactly to what degree it uses OpenSSL, I suspect it merely uses its cryptography functions in limited ways. This would probably make it unaffected by most OpenSSL vulns, but I do not wish to do an analysis. So what I think I'll do is this: 1. Update VcXsrv's OpenSSL source code and rebuild VcXsrv. The version string will bump from 1.15.2.0-xp+vc2013+x2go1 to 1.15.2.1-xp+vc2013+x2go1. 2. Release X2Go Client 4.0.3.0 with the updated/rebuilt VcXsrv, the Updated Cygwin OpenSSL, and the updated Win32 OpenSSL. Note that we will still be bundling the very latest Cygwin packages, except for OpenSSH. I will keep Cygwin OpenSSH at 6.6.1p1-2, rather than 6.7p1-1, because there has not been enough time to test such a large change to X2Go Client for Windows. Cygwin's OpenSSH was updated on 2014-10-11. Also note that VcXsrv 1.16.1.0 was released on 2014-10-13. (1.16.0.0 was never released.) Bug#645: Connection is lost when using java programs

Package: x2goclient Version: 4.0.1.1-1ubuntu1 When I start IntelliJ IDEA via X2Go serveral problems occure. Often I just get: X2Go - 52 The connection with the remote server was shut down. Please check the state of your network connection. Note that my network connection is just fine. Everything else keeps working. Using ssh with X11Forwarding that problem does not occur. I can restore the session afterwards till the next interrupt happens. Sometimes the application is in an state where the connection instantly shuts down when I try to reestablish it. It isn't possible to continue then and I have to kill the application in order to reconnect with x2go. The other time X2Go just stops responding. I can't close my application nor do anyhting with it. I need to kill X2Goclient then and hope I can restore the session. And then again sometimes when I restore a session all text is scrambled in the text editor. I need to stop the application then and restart it. The described above happens regularly when using java applications. I'm using oracle java. Server is ubuntu 14.04 with stable X2Goserver 4.0.1.18. Desktop is xfce. It happens running applcation directly and when I start java apps on the desktop. I tried it with the current version, too and after having troubles I switched to stable version. /var/log/syslog and /var/log/cups/error_log doesn't contain anything suspicous.

Does python-x2go 0.5.0.0 really depend on paramiko >= 1.15.1? Unfortunately paramiko support in Fedora has been lacking - we're still at 1.12.4 even in rawhide. Bug#550: Caused by Whitespace

Just wanted to update this bug. What's causing it is X2Go Client doesn't like my Windows user with a space in it. I've testing by creating another user with no space and everything worked fine. What's happened was the SSHFS tunnel was sending the wrong credentials and cutting off the username at the white space garbling some of the command. Andy Sinatra

Package: python-x2go Version: 0.4.0.9 Whenever a host key is registered using pyhoca-cli or pyhoca-gui, the $HOME/.ssh/known_hosts file gets clobbered: all keys whose type is not either ssh-dss or ssh-rsa (namely, ECDSA and Ed25519 host keys) are removed. Steps to reproduce: 1. register some ECDSA/Ed25519 host keys 2. backup .ssh/known_hosts 3. define a new profile in pyhoca-gui selecting "Store SSH host keys under (unique) X2Go session profile ID" 4. connect to the host and accept the host key 5. run a diff between the old known_hosts file and the current .ssh/known_hosts file Expected behaviour: there should _only_ be an addition for the new ssh host key registered by python-x2go and no other modification Actual result: there is an addition for the new host key registered by python-x2go and removals for all ecdsa and ed25519 host keys I suspect this is a problem with paramiko not understanding ECDSA and Ed25519 keys in known_hosts and summarily discarding them, nevertheless I'm raising the bug here because the x2go PPA for Ubuntu ships a custom version of paramiko for precise (also because it should probably be noted in the release notes and/or worked around in python-x2go if possible). Bug#638: broker agent in LOCAL mode cannot find state file

Package: x2gobroker Severity: important Version: 0.3.0.0 Since X2Go Server 4.0.1.16, all session relevant files moved to /tmp/.x2go-<user>. In $HOME/.x2go there only is a symlink to the session dir on /tmp. This change breaks x2gobroker-agent in LOCAL mode (evoked on the broker host itself, assuming all session files are available). In LOCAL mode, x2gobroker-agent is evoked on the X2Go Broker host itself and assumes that it can access all session files in $HOME/.x2go/C-<session>. But what it finds is a dangling symlink to a non-existent C-<session> dir in /tmp/.x2go-<user>. Bug#472: Debian now has diffie-hellman-group1-sha1 disabled

As of Version: 1:6.7p1-1 of openssh-server, it appears that Debian [and presumably upstream]'s sshd now has diffie-hellman-group1-sha1 disabled. This means that connections from x2goclient will fail. I was able to work around this by adding: KexAlgorithms curve25519-sha256@libssh.org,ecdh-sha2-nistp256,ecdh-sha2-nistp384,ecdh-sha2-nistp521,diffie-hellman-group-exchange-sha256,diffie-hellman-group14-sha1,diffie-hellman-group-exchange-sha1,diffie-hellman-group1-sha1 to /etc/ssh/sshd_config, but obviously at some point support for diffie-hellman-group1-sha1 is going to go away completely, rather than just being disabled by default.

Bug#643: X2Go Client session profiles configuration window too big (split up the Settings tab into two)

Package: x2goclient Severity: important Version: 4.0.3.0 Hi Alex, I have just looked at the results of the first openSUSE builds of X2Go Client on openSUSE and tested this and that in X2Go Client 4.0.3.0-preview. What occurred to me is that I cannot access the [ OK ] and [ Cancel ] buttons of the session profile configuration window anymore. There are simply to many configuration widget items under the "Settings" tab which forces the whole session profile configuration window into its massive size. IMHO, we need to address this rather sooner than later (because many people will stumble over this). My suggestion is splitting up the "Settings" tab into Tab 1: "Input/Output" (Screen resolution stuff, clipboard stuff, keyboard stuf) and "Media" (Audio, Printing, later Telekinesis/Video).
