Reason for norootlessexit

Hello, we are seeing problems with rootless nx sessions, when the user is using a window manager like awesome, openbox or xfce (for users using kde or gnome everythign works fine). nxagent often closes the session after switching workspaces (making the nx windows invisible) because according to nxagent there's no client left (which is wrong). This can be prevented using -norootlessexit. However, I was wondering about the reason for this switch. Did anyone have similar problems and therefore added this switch? Uli

[Bug#798] Use of ssh proxy with x2goplugin

When I'm trying to use the ssh proxy configuration in session file with x2goplugin it seems its not working. Indeed, if you look at the session file in "~/.x2goclient/sessions" which contains all the configuration of the session of x2goclient application you will see all the descriptions of each session. I take a look at the network traffic and it seems that x2goplugin doesn't look at the bold part (the ssh proxy). This is why I think that x2goplugin doesn't work with ssh proxy. I was talking with the Cygwin X11 maintainer (jturney, Jon Turney) on #cygwin on freenode and he pointed out that XMing's patches to the X.org source code are public, even though the binaries require a "donation": http://www.straightrunning.com/XmingCode/ http://www.straightrunning.com/XmingCode/xserver/ When debugging/fixing issues with VcXsrv (which X2Go Client for Windows bundles), these patches could be helpful. BTW, the Cygwin Xwin code is kept here: http://cgit.freedesktop.org/~jturney/xserver/ You'll want to look at specific branches though, such as: http://cgit.freedesktop.org/~jturney/xserver/log/?h=cygwin-release-1.15 http://cgit.freedesktop.org/~jturney/xserver/log/?h=cygwin-release-1.17 And Jon Turney said that upstream X.org does compile under MinGW. -Mike

ssh proxy with x2go firefox plugin

Hi! I'm trying to access a distant server where a x2go brower plugin is turning with apache2. On this server some computer with x2goServer is connected with reverse ssh. >From my own computer, with the application x2goClient, I succeed to be connected to the computer to my server and control remotely the computers connected to it. I copy the session file of my x2goclient inside the /var/www of my server, in the part x2goconfig and add "server=@ServerIp". Then when I reach my X2goBrowser plugin It failed with the error 'connection timed out'. I tried to look at the package send, apparently the package send with x2goclient are not the same as using x2go browser plugin. So my question is any idea why it not works? And also, is it possible to do ssh proxy connect with x2go browser plugin? It seems not. Thanks for your help.

Bug#792: Error message from X2Go Client when XQuartz is not installed is unclear.

Package: x2goclient Version: 4.0.3.2-preview1 Severity: normal Owner: ionic(a)ionic.de The error messages that pop up when XQuartz is not installed is currently "x2oclient could not find any suitable X11 Application. ..." followed by "You are using X11 (Apple X-Window Server) version ... This version causes problems ..." The second error message should not show up at all and the first one needs to be fixed to include instructions on where to get XQuartz. This is paid-for work, triaged, assigned to me and will be fixed by myself.

Bug#794: Error message regarding a missing host public key should be non-modal.

Package: x2goclient Version: 4.0.3.2-preview1 Severity: normal Owner: ionic(a)ionic.de The error message that pops up when remote printing or file sharing is enabled and the (client's) host public key does not exist is currently modal. This makes the client hang upon connecting until the user closes the error message. While the specific features (remote printing and file sharing) will not work, the basic functionality (remote GUI session) is still given and the dialog should be non-modal so that the session can still be started without bothering to user with timeouts. Other error messages might need to be changed in the same way. This is paid-for work, triaged, assigned to me and will be fixed by myself.
