For information, I use the gnome desktop from x2goclient. I have some slowdown issues and sometimes my screen freezes. logout broken with Xfce 4.12

Since Xfce 4.12 update in ArchLinux logging out from Xfce session won't close the connection cleanly. I couldn't find anything useful in the logs. Can somebody with a different distribution confirm this? Anything useful we can provide to solve this? -Andy ArchLinux

Problem integrating x2go into Linux-system

Dear x2go developers, first I'd like to thank you all for creating such a helpful product! Hope I've addressed the right mailing list? I'm trying to integrate the x2go system into our own (MPA-)Linux system which we are using and developing for centuries now (it's used non commercial in an research institute). While the client connection from my (MPA-)system to a pre-installed Ubuntu server works without a problem, the connection to a (MPA-)Linux server doesn't work yet. I'd appreciate it very much if you could be of any help to me! I have enabled some debugging and enclosed these log files: client-session1.log - shows the x2goclient 'session.log' to an (MPA-)Linux server. It fails on line 59 with a 'Protocol mismatch or no X authentication data' client-sessions1 - shows the x2goclient 'sessions' file where the problem seems to show up on line 386 where only 14 instead of 50 bytes (which I see in a working connection to the Ubuntu installation) are identified. Followed by "handleAuthorization: WARNING! Failed to match the fake cookie for FD#6." in line 392. Does this mean that the server wasn't able to apply the fake cookie? What could be the reason for this? Where might I look further on? In which code part is the fake cookie written to .Xauthority? Which debug might I enable to track down the problem? server-session1.log - server site log: there I found an Exception on line 91 resulting from an I/O error. Any hint would be very welcome! Bug#917: Printer command with spaces does not work

Package: x2goclient Version: 4.0.5.0 A custom printer command in x2goclient does not work when it contains spaces. I reproduced this on Debian "jessie" and Windows XP: 1) Open x2goclient settings and set printer command to value with spaces. I set it to "/home/reji/evince and spaces" on Debian (this is a simlink to /usr/bin/evince). 2) Print something in remote session to virtual X2Go printer. As result error message pop ups on the client: "Failed to execute command: /home/reji/evince and spaces /home/reji/.x2go/S-redge-52-1438889300_stDLXDE_dp32/spool/redge-52-1438889300_stDLXDE_dp32_33-redge-cupsjob7726ykoKRCRrXh30G41C.pdf" Printing works if I set a command to "/usr/bin/evince" or "evince".

As workaround one can add quotes and change config file permissions (so it won't be rewritten by x2goclient). Just adding that doing Ctrl-Alt-T to terminate when at the hung background screen on MATE logout does not clean up the session. However clicking the Terminate button on the X2Go client login dialog in the master window does work. So for some reason Ctrl-Alt-T is not doing the same thing as that Terminate button.

Package: <x2goserver> Version: <4.0.1.19-3.el7> X2Goserver installed on a CentOS7 system with Mate desktop. When I logout, the top and bottom bars disappear but the background image remains and in this state it hangs indefinitely. If I then use alt-control-M to minimize the screen, click on the little white seal and when the initial screen comes up, terminate the session, it terminates. This behavior did not exist when I first installed Mate and X2Go server on this machine, something has changed recently. Also perhaps relevant, I have exactly the same version of x2go server and Mate installed on a Scientific Linux 7 machine and it terminates the session properly when I logout so this behavior appears to be specific to Centos 7. This is the x2goserver.conf, it is identical on both the Centos7 machine that doesn't logout properly and the scientific7 machine which does, I have not altered it from the defaults: --------------------------------------------------------------------------- [limit users] #user-foo=1 [limit groups] #bar-group=1 [security] # SSHFS umask for client-side folder sharing. The one thing that is different is the version of mate-desktop, on the broken box it's version 1.8.2-2.el7 and on the working system 1.10.1-2.el7. Mac keyboard fixes

I installed the x2go client on a Mac, connecting to a Linux machine running x2goserver 4.0.1.19. The keyboard is totally garbled. I researched the situation. This was in the bug database as bug 112, and to fix it, these lines were added to /usr/bin/x2gostartagent in 4.0.1.8: # Mac OS keyboard issue workaround: for old/broken clients that used to call type=query and usekbd=0... if [ "$X2GO_KBD_TYPE" = "query" ]; then X2GO_SET_KBD=1 fi These lines were then removed in the fix for bug #348, with the log message: - Revert keyboard workaround for Mac OS X, as it causes other issues. In my case, if those lines are there it works, and if they aren't it doesn't. Now I expect that someday one of my users will hit #348, so I want to help fix this one properly. The 2nd client tries to connect into this session with Windows X2Goclient or Linux X2Goclient but it fails with message^ «Failed to restore all the required visuals. Can't resume the NX session on this display». The server's log has^ nxagentInitAndCheckVisuals: New visuals don't match with old visuals. Feel free to reassign to nx-libs or vcxsrv in case the root cause is in one of these. Situation: Start x2goclient.exe on a Windows machine that has a native screen resolution of, say, 1024x768. In X2GoClient, configure a PubApp session. Run Firefox/Iceweasel and resize the application window so it almost fills the entire screen (do *not* maximize). Close Firefox/Iceweasel. Open it again to verify that the window has the same size as before. Close it again. Terminate or suspend the session. Close X2GoClient. Now, change the screen resolution to 800x600. Start x2goclient.exe again, resume your session, or start a new session and run Firefox/Iceweasel again. Expected result: Firefox/Iceweasel window gets resized to maximum available space, with window decorations. Actual result: Firefox/Iceweasel goes fullscreen and lacks window decorations, so it cannot be resized or moved out of the way. This does not happen on Linux, where the native X server is used, nor on OS X, even though OS X uses a separate X Server. It only occurs on Windows. It might have to do with the X server we ship, however, trying XWin.exe from Cygwin gave even worse results. Bug#883: Can be fixed by reverting winmultiwindow.patch

I determined that this bug can be fixed by reverting Alex's winmultiwindow.patch to VcXsrv, which was a workaround for #594 and has been included in both 1.15.2.x and 1.17.0.0-x of the VcXsrv X2Go/Arctica builds. I also created a bug report & branch in the GitHub project for VcXsrv (X2Go/Arctica builds): https://github.com/ArcticaProject/vcxsrv/issues/3 https://github.com/ArcticaProject/vcxsrv/commits/bugfix/bug3 I will be releasing X2Go Client for Windows 4.0.4.0-2015.06.22 with the OpenSSL updates. When I do, I will offer an alternate build with VcXsrv with winmultiwindow.patch reverted. This will be a workaround until we make a change to VcXsrv that fixes both #594 and #883 -Mike#2

X2Go Server tcp_wrapper banner bug

So we found out that the tcp_wrapper banner on /etc/hosts.allow on the RHEL7.1 X2go server was breaking the x2go client connection. Kept getting the ŒProtocol Mismatch¹ error on the client. Once we modified the /etc/hosts.allow file: FROM sshd: 137.78. 137.79. 137.228. 128.149. 127.0.0.1 : banners /etc/banners TO sshd: 137.78. 137.79. 137.228. 128.149. 127.0.0.1 The x2go client was able to connect to the server. Client is Windows 7 64-bit started with: x2goclient.exe --portable --home=F:\x2goclient Btw. in an older version it was possible to use --home=(x2godrive):\x2goclient but this seems to be no longer valid and the directory could not be found. Resuming this session from the xubuntu mini pc, I do get the menu displayed correctly even though the colors get a little distorted. When I tried x2goserver, it complained about not find the base rule. With a bit of strace'ing, I found the missing file was /*usr*/*share*/*X11*/*xkb*/*rules*/ *base*.*lst*. The fix was to install xkeyboard-config-2.9-4.el7.noarch, so this looks like a missing dependency. Please consider adding this to the RedHat packages. Thanks for x2go! Shaheed
