Package: x2goclient Version: 4.0.5.0 Error message: "VcXsrv windows xserver (X2Go/Arctica Builds) has stopped working" How to reproduce: Start an x2go session using the Windows X2Go client, then suspend it. Now change the resolution for the session and try to reconnect. Expected behavior: Well, it would be really, really nice if x2go could change the X11 resolution dynamically, a la VirtualBox/VMWare. Failing that, it might be nice if x2goclient could query the resolution of the remote session and use that, or else fail gracefully with a message telling the user about the mismatch. This is easily reproducible on Windows 10 Pro x64 client with Ubuntu MATE 14.04 LTS server.

I also get the same error. However: Add the lines: export GSETTINGS_SCHEMA_DIR=/usr/share/gconf/schemas/ export XDG_DATA_DIRS=/usr/share/gconf/schemas/ to your .profile, and things will start. XFCE and Mate are completely borked. LXDE still runs file. Seems like a GTK issue.

I have exactly the same problem, in a VM in Xenserver, perfectly reproducible. The working system is based on an Ubuntu Server 16.04 64 Bit Beta 2, once I upgrade, X2Go stops working, with the same kind of error message. Package: x2goclient Version: 4.0.5.2 Tags: patch Hello, I really like the new support for OTP (One Time Passwords). This patch adds support for ANSI X9.9 OTP tokens (and probably others too). These tokens look like tiny calculators. Here's a link to a typical example: http://www.safenet-inc.com/multi-factor-authentication/authenticators/one-t… Here's a diagram of the "user experience" when using these tokens: http://www.safenet-inc.com/uploadedImages/images/products/data-protection/a… With this patch, if the SSH server sends a verification prompt to the X2Go client that contains the string "challenge", then the client will prompt the user for the verification code (as before), but this time it will show the user the actual content of the server's prompt. This enables the user to see what the "challenge" is. This is not a requirement for the time or event based algorithms currently supported. But when I try to logout without closing for example firefox logout process freeze. I don't see panels and for example file manager, but can still operate inside of firefox which doesn't have bars, so it's look like not all application are closed by logout process (I can see firefox process running to). To completely close the sesion still clicking on terminate in x2go client window is needed. Logout process directly on server works fine. Problem only occur during x2go connection. I wanted to try mentioned workaround but it's not working or I get it wrong (I moved /usr/bin/mate-session to another file and create new /usr/bin/mate-session file with rx permissions to everybody containing short script from Message #94). After that I see only black screen after login and: "/usr/bin/mate-session: fork: retry: No child processes /usr/bin/mate-session: fork: retry: No child processes /usr/bin/mate-session: fork: retry: No child processes /usr/bin/mate-session: fork: retry: No child processes /usr/bin/mate-session: fork: Resource temporarily unavailable" in log file. The attached patches expand the --autostart option so that multiple comma separated app names can specified as well to optionally allow more than one app to be auto-started. Thanks Jason

Excuse me, I'm embarrassed to tell you that the Mate logout problem happens with TurboVNC and not with x2Go! I am comparing more products at the same time ... Bug#1019: xcodemap is missing on OS X 10.11

Package: x2go OS X client Version: 4.0.5.1 After starting the x2go client, opening a connection and logging in, the client reports a missing "xmodmap" binary. The error message is attached at the bottom. The xmodmap binary on my system is located in "/opt/X11/bin/xmodmap". The directory path was added to the $PATH variable, but unfortunately the client doesn't seem to read the $PATH variable. Due to the new "SIP" feature in the new OS X one is not allowed to write to the folders in which the client is looking for the binary (even with root privileges). I'm running OS X 10.11.4 and XQuartz 2.7.8 (xorg-server 1.16.4). Error message: "xmodmap failed to start. This likely means the binary is not available. The current search path is: /usr/bin:/bin:/usr/sbin:/sbin X2Go Client will now terminate. File a bug report as outlined on the bugs wiki page <http://wiki.x2go.org/doku.php/wiki:bugs>."

Bug#487: "xmodmap failed to start" error

When connecting to a X2Go session using the latest release (4.0.5.1) on Mac OS 10.11, the client displays a dialog box with error message "xmodmap failed to start". Attached is a picture of the error message. It seems like the search path does not include '/usr/X11/bin' or '/opt/X11/bin' which indeed does have the xmodmap binary. If the user decides to hit 'OK' to the dialog box, then the x2go session is terminated, but if he decides to leave it unattended, then the user can continue using his session. I'm not sure what the fix would be here. Do we leave it on the user to fix his default path settings even though 'echo $PATH' shows it is set to the right path? Or, in the code, we hard code the path to "/opt/local/bin:/opt/local/sbin:/usr/bin:/bin:/usr/sbin:/sbin:/usr/local/bin:/usr/local/sbin:/usr/X11R6/bin:/opt/X11/bin", regardless of what the env variable is set to? I can confirm this bug on my el Capitan 10.11.4 installation with XQuartz 2.78. The issue seems to be related to the fixing of bug 487 http://bugs.x2go.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=487 In particular, in the latest version of the function onmainwindow.ccp, lines 5622-5624 are not working, since the path, that is the one that is displayed in the error message of the previous message, is not modified. Thus, the path does not include folders such as /opt/X11/bin/ and xmodmap cannot be found. Best, Mattia Cantono

Package: x2goclient (win64) Version: 4.0.5.0 (Qt 4.8.6) 1. start a server using windowed geometry - 1440x900, RHEL5 (but any non-fullscreen res reproduces) 2. maximize window 3. start incisive enterprise simulator program (cadence IES tool) Notes: omitting the maximize (step 2) yields normal results x2goclient on linux does not suffer from this issue vnc both windows/linux does not suffer from this issue - (no way to rescale geometry after server is started) The rest of the windows spawned by IES all suffer from this... I haven't observed this with other programs, so I'm attaching the strace for reference.

x2goclient, Pyhoca-GUI and x2goserver issues on Ubuntu 16.04

Hi all, Recently I've migrated to Ubuntu 16.04 + LP:x2go/ppa and found the following: 1. x2goclient tray icon (indicator) is oversized (fixed at 144px) while in gnome-flashback but it's ok in Unity. 2. Pyhoca-GUI fails to utilize indicators in Unity and gnome-flashback but manages to fall back to classic tray in gnome-flashback if tray applet activated. 3. x2goserver still broken for gnome-flashback. Several weeks ago I've posted few patches to fix gnome-flashback but they are still not reviewed or applied. Package: x2goclient Version: 4.0.5.1 Severity: wishlist When in windowed mode (not full screen), and the window has the focus and the mouse over the window, please add an option to grab the keyboard input (for ALT-TAB within the remote session, not on the host). As example, this is implemented in xFreeRDP and properitary Microsoft Terminal Server Client (just as an example, i do not use Windows) and is very very useful. I'm using XFCE4 on Arch Linux (server and client)

x2go client KDE session won't resume active session on linux clustered system

Hello, I have a clustered linux system (node1 – node24) which we access via a FQDN, the problem when using x2go client using KDE is that when you suspend an active session then log back in, x2go does not alert you that there is a suspended session, you are able to log in but you are connected to a different node. What is your approach at being able to resume an active KDE session when connecting to a linux clustered system? x2go server: RHEL7, x2go version 4.0.1 x2go client: RHEL7, x2go version 4.0.5 Thank you, Liz

this is killing me. I'm having the exact same problem connecting from my Mac OS X 10.11.3 Xquartz 2.7.9_rc2 (xorg-server 1.17.4) X2Go Client v. 4.0.5.0 (Qt - 4.8.7) I've tried connecting to a CentOS 7 machine with either XFCE or MATE desktops and they both exhibit the same garbled keyboard behavior.

I have found the following bugs and solutions: 1. sshd on cygwin offers ssh-dss keys, but modern ssh-client on Ubuntu fails to accept this (deprecated?) type of a key. The problem is worked-around by adding HostKeyAlgorithms=+ssh-dss to /etc/ssh/ssh_config OR The problem can be solved on the whole by generating a better type of a key on windows-side. C:\Program Files (x86)\x2goclient\ssh-keygen -b 2048 -t rsa And simply replacing c:\Users\User\.x2go\etc\ ssh_host_dsa_key and c:\Users\User\.x2go\etc\ ssh_host_dsa_key.pub with generated files. Ssh-keygen supports RSA keys or even ecdsa. In particular, CBC ciphers and arcfour* are disabled by default. It means, since then folder mounting fails for anyone, who installs updates from time to time. o_O 3. Windows 8 clients have a cygwin bug that prevent them from starting sshd properly, thus preventing them from mounting local folders: Permissions 660 for '...' are too open. It is recommended that your private key files are NOT accessible by others. This private key will be ignored. As it is the only key, sshd fails to start at all. It is not a problem of x2go. But still, you can add to a wiki the following: To test for this kind of error, you need to install mswin client with Debug Build and run it with debug shortcut. If you see the error stated above, you simply set the following permissions to c:\Users\<Username>\.x2go\etc folder: 1. OWNER – GROUP(!!!) Users (in fact, any group your user is in – Everyone, Administrators) 2. Disable rights inheriting 3. Delete all user rights 4. Hi Alex, SUSE packages on packages.x2go.org are built from the .spec files in the Git repos on git.x2go.org. Packages get built via jenkins.x2go.org. The .spec files are maintained by X2Go upsteam devs. The .spec files that build X2Go packages on OBS have been created by Jan Engelhardt and initially were of high quality and up-to-date. The OBS packaging had been sponsored financially by Michael Kromers company. However, the OBS packages had various issues, some of them you have already named. The RPM packages hosted on packages.x2go.org are IMHO more similar to our Debian packages and should be preferred. However, I haven't tried then for a while now and I neither know if the Jenkins build jobs are up-to-date and if recent SUSE versions are already supported. I guess this all needs some love... Some of my customers installed packages from OBS and they didn't work as expected. I also tried this packages and figured out, that they are not equivalent to the packages from packages.x2go.org. For example, package x2goagent has no X2GO branding. Agent displays "!m" splash screen and "!m" icon. Customizing of keystrokes.cfg didn't work neither. I don't know if there are any other differences, I didn't make further investigations. I think, we should make it clear for the users on our wiki page, which packages we suggesting to use.
