Hi, unfortunately the new release did not solve the problem with new nextcloud client. With x2goserver 4.1.0.3 and nextcloud-client 2.5.0 in an lxc container I encounter following error : Gkr-Message: 20:08:21.755: secret service operation failed: Did not receive a reply. Possible causes include: the remote application did not send a reply, the message bus security policy blocked the reply, the reply timeout expired, or the network connection was broken. Bug#1342: Graphical apps stalling in suspended session

Package: x2goserver Version: 4.0.1.0 I put this in the x2goserver section but I'm not quite sure if it's the right component that suffers from this issue. In my company, we recently began to experience an issue similar to the one reported in archived bug #673 [1] and on the X2Go-User list [2] back in 2015. The manifestation of the issue is that when a session is suspended, our program that runs in a terminal inside the session is slowed down to a near stop, and abruptly recovers its original speed when the session is resumed. There seems to be a link with graphical components though, and my guess is it's the output scrolling in the terminal that is stalled, and by way of consequence slowing down the rest of the program downstream. To confirm the involvement of the graphics, I tried running glxgears as a test, and while it runs at about 1000 fps while the session is attached, it drops at about 3 fps (!) when suspended. This behaviour is reproducible on a freshly installed CentOS 7 VM; I can provide a VirtualBox VM on which I ran the glxgears test. What is strange is that we only noticed it a few days/weeks ago whereas we didn't touch/update anything on the machines running those programs and x2go. We have a cluster of 5 CentOS 7 machine + 1 CentOS 6 machine and the issue appears on all of them, including CentOS 6, which hints that the issue might not be related to a specific version of the x2go components. A quick search for this issue raised at least 2 third parties experiencing the issue; one university [3] announced dropping x2go as of October 2018 because of this, and another [4] is listing it as a known issue, albeit maybe in 2015. I hope we can find a source for this problem, it's quite critical for us. Hi, I'm on Debian stretch with libss-4 v.0.8.0 installed from stretch-backports due to Remmina requirements. Installed x2goclient is v. 4.1.2.1, from you release builds repo. Now Remmina asks me to update but that would update libssh4 to v.0.8.1 (https://packages.debian.org/stretch-backports/libssh-4) that is unsupported by x2goclient. Would you consider updating it?

Upcoming Deprecation of EOL Distributions

Hi In order to lower resource stress when building packages, I plan to deprecate support for distributions that have reached End Of Life on December 31th 2018. This includes the following distro versions: - Fedora o 26 o 27 - OpenSuSE o 42.1 o 42.2 - SLES o 12.0 Ubuntu builds are ceased automatically after upstream deprecation (minus special exceptions). SLES 12.0 builds will be replaced by SLES 12.3 (12 SP3) builds, since SLE 12.0 has long been deprecated and newer versions include proper Qt5 support, which the initial version lacked. After deprecation, no new builds will be published and existing builds will be moved to the archive repositories to discourage users from installing unmaintained software. Mihai

The nxagent >= 3.5.99.0 will be able to handle Xinerama stuff all by itself. No external xinerama.conf is required, applications running server-side can use the X.Org client libraries, no hack for injecting libNX_X11, libNX_Xext and libNX_Xinerama into the library path is needed anymore. In fact, the libNX_Xinerama library will be dropped completely in nx-libs >= 3.5.99.0 (aka 3.6.x). REASON: ------- I just discovered that the "timeout" command that we have started using in /usr/bin/x2gomountdirs since 4.0.1.19 of X2Go Server is normally shipped via the essential .deb package "coreutils". Normally, it is not necessary to add dependencies for essential packages. However, on Ubuntu 10.04, the timeout command is not shipped with the coreutils package but with a separate package called "timeout". There you have to explicitly install the "timeout" .deb package. So, basically in X2Go Server's debian/control file we need to add timeout | coreutils, under Depends: of bin:package x2goserver. However, as Ubuntu 10.04 will reach End of Life probably before the next X2Go Server release will come out, I am unsure if we should still change this. Hi Mihai, hi Alex, the new RandR based Xinerama is about to be merged to the nx-libs 3.6.x branch. Here are some ideas how to make the feature addressable in X2Go. 1. X2Go Client can server-side query x2gofeaturelist, it outputs the string X2GOAGENT_RANDRXINERAMA. If that string is in x2gofeaturelist, then the new Xinerama code is present in x2goagent/nxagent. 2. We are about to add a xinerama={0,1} NX option for the NX options file (Ulrich is probably reviewing right now...). This should be used through NX proxy (I guess) for setting up Xinerama in X2Go Agent. It works on session startup and session resumption. 3. One can disable Xinerama completely via cmdline switch for x2goagent: -disablexineramaextension. My suggestion is: o you keep the xinerama.conf file with X2GOAGENT_RANDRXINERAMA, but put "enabled" or "disabled" into it o the "enabled" switch is rather for human beings, because the real enabling takes place via NX options o if "disabled" is set, then x2gostartagent should notice that and add -disablexineramaextension Also, -disablexineramaextension should be added (commented out, of course, thus for reference) to /etc/x2go/x2goagent.options. So far from Uli's and Mike's Xinerama hacking frontier... The details are not too important; it had to do with a difference of default shell (/bin/sh) being either /bin/dash or /bin/bash. After enabling the 'debug' loglevel on the server, I still had no helpful output indicating what the problem might be... I did some ferreting about and noticed that x2goruncommand was not capturing cmd output when using x2gofeature X2GO_XSESSION (/etc/x2go/Xsession). The client side invocation of x2goruncommand (via sshlib) redirects remote command output to /dev/null, so it is also not preserved when using the client's --debug option... This small patch appends the missing output to an already existing debug file in x2goruncommand ($MESSAGE_FILE). With this in place, I was able to see the "smoking gun": cat ~/.x2go/C-user-50-1463156913_stD.Xclients_dp24/cmdoutput exec /root/.Xclients Loading profile from /etc/profile Loading profile from /root/.profile Loading profile from /etc/xprofile /etc/xprofile: 14: Bad substitution <-- whoop! Dear X2Go translation team, at "X2Go - The Gathering 2018" and beyond Mihai and I spent a considerable effort on preparing a new release of x2godesktopsharing (driven by the intent of porting it to Qt5, plus making system-defaults of x2godesktopsharing more flexible and configurable at installation (on DEB based systems only)). Please revisit the translation files of the x2godesktopsharing applet. You can retrieve a latest version of x2godesktopsharing by cloning the Git repo: git clone git://code.x2go.org/x2godesktopsharing.git After cloning, change dir into the just appeared x2godesktopsharing/ subfolder. On systems running Qt5 with qtchooser installed, you need to open your translation file like this: linguist -qt=5 x2godesktopsharing_de.ts (example for the German translation file). After you have finished your translation update, please send back the translation file you just edited to this mailing list (as reply to this email). We plan a release of X2Go Desktop Sharing 3.2.0.0 for Nov 23nd 2018. So please send in your translations until the 22nd of Nov. If you only get to do the translation work after that date, don't worry. We will target another minor release 2-3 weeks later. With the work achieved already, X2Go Desktop Sharing is now ready for being uploaded to Debian, so that it will be included in Debian 10 and Ubuntu 19.04 and beyond. Thanks a lot!!! Hi $LIST, Given some recent discussions on the lists, I would like to suggest the following topics: - stable release including Uli's BIG-REQUESTS fix (assuming we have sufficient positive user feedback) Open Issues, Timeframe/Timeline, Dependencies, ... - once the BIG-REQUESTS patch has been integrated into stable and BIG-REQUESTS is active again, look into supporting FreeRDP in RDP proxy mode, rather than only in DIRECT RDP mode. Easy/Difficult? GUI changes in X2GoClient? Additional dependency on Server? What else? As discussed at the last Gathering, the next DevMeeting will probably take place in early February (probably February 7th, as 14th is Valentine's Day and people might have other things to do on that day than to attend a DevMeeting ;-)). @Heinz: Please make a note of these two topics and also be sure to block the date in your calendar (or let us know if 7th doesn't work for you), as this will be a lunchtime/early afternoon DevMeeting, so you will be in charge. I can verify that this also occurs on my compute servers running Ubuntu 14.04LTS and 16.04LTS. Commenting the line: X2GO_NXAGENT_DEFAULT_OPTIONS+=" -extension BIG-REQUESTS" in x2goagent.options does resolve the issue, *but* there is a comment above that line: # Disable BIG-REQUESTS, nx-libs does not implement this extension correctly. # Leads to all sorts of weird crashes if left enabled. …which unfortunately has proven to be true for my instances. The performance and reliability of x2go has dropped substantially since commenting the line. Can we please raise the priority of this bug to restore performance? Regards, Adrian.

Package: x2goclient Version: 4.1.2.2 Tag: patch The openSUSE Tumbleweed RPM for x2goclient at <https://wiki.x2go.org/doku.php/wiki:repositories:suse> cannot be built or installed on recent versions of Tumbleweed because it depends on an obsolete version of libssh that is no longer distributed with Tumbleweed. However, updating the dependency to a modern libssh requires changing not only the RPM spec file but also the x2goclient source code. This is because recent versions of libssh install both the standard and threaded libraries in the same library, whereas the existing source code attempts to link them as two unique libraries. Attached is a patch to the spec file that fixes the libssh dependency for Tumbleweed, and applies a patch (also attached) to the x2goclient source code that stops it from trying to link to the nowadays missing ssh_threads library. (Maybe the latter patch should be merged into the official x2goclient source, though of course this depends on what version(s) of libssh the x2goclient developers intend to support.) Package: x2goclient Version: 4.1.2.0 I'm using x2goclient 4.1.2.0 on Windows 10. I have found two ways that break the bidirectional clipboard mode, one for the MATE desktop and one for the Plasma 4 desktop (both on the x2go server). 1) MATE desktop - Open a connection to your x2go server. - In Windows 10: Open a text editor. I use Notepad++. - Write a single character in the editor, then select it and use copy. - In MATE desktop: Open a text editor. I use pluma. - Press spacebar once and then select the empty space with ctrl+a. - Use paste to paste the clipboard contents. At this point the clipboard functionality breaks. 2) Plasma 4 desktop - Open a connection to your x2go server. - In Windows 10: Open a text editor. I use Notepad++. - Write a single character in the editor, then select it and use copy. - In Plasma 4 desktop: Open a text editor. I use emacs. If I use KWrite there is no problem. - In an empty emacs buffer, press spacebar once, press cursor left and then use ctrl+space to mark the selection starting point and press cursor right once to select the empty space. - Use ctrl+y to yank the contents of the clipboard. At this point the clipboard functionality breaks and emacs goes into a loop consuming 100% CPU. Both of these break the Windows 10 side clipboard so that it doesn't work until I restart the computer. I can verify that this also occurs on my compute servers running Ubuntu 14.04LTS and 16.04LTS. Commenting the line: X2GO_NXAGENT_DEFAULT_OPTIONS+=" -extension BIG-REQUESTS" in x2goagent.options does resolve the issue, *but* there is a comment above that line: # Disable BIG-REQUESTS, nx-libs does not implement this extension correctly. # Leads to all sorts of weird crashes if left enabled. …which unfortunately has proven to be true for my instances. The performance and reliability of x2go has dropped substantially since commenting the line. Can we please raise the priority of this bug to restore performance? Regards, Adrian.

Dear $ALL, As stated in the subject line, X2Go: The Gathering 2018 will take place at Stuttgart's hackerspace "shackspace", from Friday afternoon, 2018-11-09, to Sunday afternoon/evening, 2018-11-11. So, only a little more than 4 weeks from now. X2Go: The Gathering is the annual event where users, admins, and developers of X2Go meet face to face, to discuss current X2Go-related issues, fix open bugs, and have a good time getting to know each other. As there is some overlap between X2Go, Arctica, and ORCA e.V., you can expect to see members of those groups as well. Food and beverages are available on-site at low cost. What will cost you money is if you need a place to sleep - we have a few hotels/hostels that we recommend; If you want to take part, and need a hostel/hotel room, please contact me at <X2Go-ML-1(a)baur-itcs.de> ASAP, so we can find a hostel/hotel room for you. I'm also affected by this bug. x2go remote printing works without x2gomatebindings, but remote folders create a unusable icon on the desktop that will confuse users if I don't have x2gomatebindings installed.
