Package: x2goserver
Version: 4.0.1.19-010640ubuntu16.04.1
With the most recent updates to Ubuntu 16.04 (moving kernel to 4.4.0-18-generic Apr 6) x2goserver suddenly fails to start. The relevant error message in .xsession-x2go-errors is:
13 XSession-x2go: X session started for ddd at Fri Apr 8 17:52:25 EDT 2016
14 localuser:ddd being added to access control list

17 mate-session[3684]: GLib-GIO-ERROR: No GSettings schemas are installed on the system

I have Ubuntu 16.04 installed on a physical machine and also as a KVM virtual machine. In each case after the most recent updates x2goserver fails to start with the same message as above.

Note: Even if you are unfamiliar with Docker, you should be able to
make sense of the Dockerfile. Note that it is based on the "fedora"
image, which is a very minimal install of Fedora. Also note that
"start.sh" simply adds a user account named "user" with a fixed
password.
When I connect to a new TERMINAL session (which defaults to
lxterminal), the session appears to work fine. However, at the end, I
often receive an exception like:
x2go.x2go_exceptions.X2GoSessionRegistryException: No session found
for UUID a2f17c6e-fe14-11e4-8e21-001a4a1bd601
I am using this command to connect:
pyhoca-cli --server 127.0.0.1 -p 50000 -N --user user
--add-to-known-hosts --libdebug --debug
See attachment for output.
This bug is reproducible, but not 100% of the time. It seems to be
related to timing. It is usually reproduced when I leave lxterminal
open for 10 seconds. (I close lxterminal by typing "exit" or clicking
the X in the window decoration.) It is usually NOT reproduced when I
leave lxterminal open for 2 seconds.

(also x2go version 4.0.1.6 (self-compiled) on the same platform)
Problem:
After a server OS lockup and reboot, the previously working x2goserver would
not allow client connections from Mac, Linux, Windows. After re-installing
x2gserver (x2goserver-4.0.1.6-1.1.x86_64) and x2goagent
(x2goagent-3.5.0.20-4.1.x86_64), it refused to connect with the client-side
message:

===
(dont know if this is complete since the popup only lasts 2s.)
This error has been cited multiple times in various fora and lists, but no one
seems to have been able to solve it.
I can passwordlessly ssh to both servers just fine from other Linux clients.
If I don't use the ssh keys, I can enter my password and the result is the
same.
The server seems to be initializing the session since if I try to log in
multiple times, there are new sessions listed, but I'm not allowed to connect
to them. I can only terminate or suspend them.
Terminating them does appear to work since they are not listed on following
sessions if I do.
The problem does seem to be related to authentication or authorization; we use
ldap-based auth on the server and it's working fine otherwise, except for
x2go.
Thanks for your work!

The X2Go Session Broker should be able to detect offline X2Go Servers.
It should not offer session via the select_session() method to X2Go

I got it:
pacmd load-module module-native-protocol-tcp listen=0.0.0.0
before the start of pyhoca-cli let the running pulseaudio deamon open
it's port. Or let pulseaudio open the port by default by adding the
above line to /etc/pulse/default.pa ...
Perhaps it's possible to let pyhoca, or python-x2go respectively, open
the port like x2goclient does ... but for me the above solution is
enough ...
So long, Tim

Hi Mike,
Thanks for your help over the weekend.

Indeed, with your help I was able to patch Xlib and recompile nxproxy,
so that python-x2go works on yosemite!
> here is a short reminder message for sending me the diff between
> Python X2Go 0.4.0.8 and your fork for Mac OS X.
My fork of Python X2GO 0.4.0.8 is quite modified to tailor the
specifics of the product my company is working on
(https://www.lytmus.io/ <https://www.lytmus.io/>), but the basic
changes to get it working on Mac and Yosemite are trivial, and I have
included them below.
By the way, I’m happy to test the new release of Python X2go 0.5 over
the next weekend, just let me know.
Python-Xlib 0.15rc1
Replace two instances of:
host.startswith('/tmp/') ——> host.startswith('/')
NXproxy
Apply this patch and recompile:
http://code.x2go.org/gitweb?p=nx-libs.git;a=commitdiff;h=b0727a02ff417b3983…
<http://code.x2go.org/gitweb?p=nx-libs.git;a=commitdiff;h=b0727a02ff417b3983…>
Neverpanic helped me recompile nxproxy and nxcomp.
python x2go 0.4.0.8
You just need to specify the path to the nxproxy file on the Mac package.
The code below is specific to how I package my app (I use py2app).
else:
self.PROXY_CMD = "/usr/bin/nxproxy
——>
elif _X2GOCLIENT_OS == 'Darwin':
if hasattr(sys, 'frozen'): # if client app is frozen
self.PROXY_CMD = join(os.environ['RESOURCEPATH'], 'nxproxy')
else:
self.PROXY_CMD = join(x2go_abs, 'contrib', 'mac’,
nxproxy', 'nxproxy')
elif _X2GOCLIENT_OS == 'Linux':
if hasattr(sys, 'frozen'): # if client app is frozen
self.PROXY_CMD = join(os.environ['RESOURCEPATH'],
'nxproxy', 'start_nxproxy')
else:
self.PROXY_CMD = join(x2go_abs, 'contrib', 'linux’,
'nxproxy', 'start_nxproxy')

X2Go Client obviously is able to add extra/custom items to the
applications= field in a session profile item.
We observed one case where pyhoca-gui crashed when encountering this
line in the sessions file:
applications=WWWBROWSER, MAILCLIENT, OFFICE, TERMINAL,
/usr/bin/Virtualbox %U, /usr/bin, /usr/bin/Virtualbox, Virtualbox,
Virtualbox %U
(which looks broken anyway, but PyHoca-GUI should not crash on it).
