Bug#1334: Bidirectional clipboard mode stops working with Windows 10 x2goclient

Package: x2goclient Version: 4.1.2.0 I'm using x2goclient 4.1.2.0 on Windows 10. I have found two ways that break the bidirectional clipboard mode, one for the MATE desktop and one for the Plasma 4 desktop (both on the x2go server). 1) MATE desktop - Open a connection to your x2go server. - In Windows 10: Open a text editor. I use Notepad++. - Write a single character in the editor, then select it and use copy. - In MATE desktop: Open a text editor. I use pluma. - Press spacebar once and then select the empty space with ctrl+a. - Use paste to paste the clipboard contents. At this point the clipboard functionality breaks. 2) Plasma 4 desktop - Open a connection to your x2go server. - In Windows 10: Open a text editor. I use Notepad++. - Write a single character in the editor, then select it and use copy. - In Plasma 4 desktop: Open a text editor. I use emacs. If I use KWrite there is no problem. - In an empty emacs buffer, press spacebar once, press cursor left and then use ctrl+space to mark the selection starting point and press cursor right once to select the empty space. - Use ctrl+y to yank the contents of the clipboard. At this point the clipboard functionality breaks and emacs goes into a loop consuming 100% CPU. Both of these break the Windows 10 side clipboard so that it doesn't work until I restart the computer. The client machine's OS: Windows 10 64-bit The client machine's version of X2GoClient, PyHoca-GUI or Pyhoca-CLI: 4.1.20 Any relevant session settings in X2GoClient, PyHoca-GUI or Pyhoca-CLI: no The server's OS: MATE desktop: Fedora 27 x86_64, Plasma 4 desktop: CentOS 6 x86_64 The server's version of the x2goserver package: MATE desktop: x2goserver-4.1.0.2-0.0x2go1.1.git20180801.1642.main.fc27.x86_64, Plasma 4 desktop: x2goserver-4.0.1.19-3.el6.x86_64 The server's version of the x2goserver-xsession package: MATE desktop: x2goserver-xsession-4.1.0.2-0.0x2go1.1.git20180801.1642.main.fc27.x86_64, Plasma 4 desktop: not installed The server's version of the nxagent package: MATE desktop: nxagent-3.5.99.16-0.0build1.1.git20180719.2988.main.fc27.x86_64, Plasma 4 desktop: nxagent-3.5.0.32-3.1.x86_64 The server's version of any other relevant packages (e.g., if the bug as about MATE integration, the version of x2gomatebindings): MATE desktop: not installed Any relevant settings in X2GoServer (that you changed from the defaults): MATE desktop: enabled BIG-REQUESTS Best regards, Aki

I can verify that this also occurs on my compute servers running Ubuntu 14.04LTS and 16.04LTS. Commenting the line: X2GO_NXAGENT_DEFAULT_OPTIONS+=" -extension BIG-REQUESTS" in x2goagent.options does resolve the issue, *but* there is a comment above that line: # Disable BIG-REQUESTS, nx-libs does not implement this extension correctly. # Leads to all sorts of weird crashes if left enabled. …which unfortunately has proven to be true for my instances. The performance and reliability of x2go has dropped substantially since commenting the line. Can we please raise the priority of this bug to restore performance? Regards, Adrian.

X2Go: The Gathering 2018 (2018-11-09 - 2018-11-11) will take place at Stuttgart's hackerspace "shackspace"

Dear $ALL, As stated in the subject line, X2Go: The Gathering 2018 will take place at Stuttgart's hackerspace "shackspace", from Friday afternoon, 2018-11-09, to Sunday afternoon/evening, 2018-11-11. So, only a little more than 4 weeks from now. X2Go: The Gathering is the annual event where users, admins, and developers of X2Go meet face to face, to discuss current X2Go-related issues, fix open bugs, and have a good time getting to know each other. As there is some overlap between X2Go, Arctica, and ORCA e.V., you can expect to see members of those groups as well. Food and beverages are available on-site at low cost. What will cost you money is if you need a place to sleep - we have a few hotels/hostels that we recommend; If you want to take part, and need a hostel/hotel room, please contact me at <X2Go-ML-1(a)baur-itcs.de> ASAP, so we can find a hostel/hotel room for you. Prices currently range from about 31 EUR (cheapest single-bed hostel bedroom) to about 80 EUR (single-bed hotel room), but these may change (increase!) as we get closer to the event date, so please book early if you can! However, this year, attendance *at the actual event* is free for everyone, as the venue is not charging us for using their facilities. Please *do* shoot me a quick e-mail (you can reach me at <x2go-ml-1(a)baur-itcs.de>) if you intend to attend, so we have an approximate idea of how many people we need to expect, whether you need a place to stay or not, will be around for breakfast/lunch/dinner, etc. etc. Further information regarding the event, like suggestions on how to travel to shackspace, and where the nearest suitable hostels/hotels are located, can be found at <https://wiki.x2go.org/doku.php/events:x2go-gathering-2018> - we will be updating this page whenever new information becomes available, so please monitor it closely if you plan to attend. I'm also affected by this bug. x2go remote printing works without x2gomatebindings, but remote folders create a unusable icon on the desktop that will confuse users if I don't have x2gomatebindings installed.

not sure if a newer version will change the memory footprint. However, you can always switch to another X server via the menu in the x2goclient. So simply try VcXsrv 1.20 (and report your results here)... UIl

Package: x2goserver Version: 4.1.0.2-0~1642~ubuntu16.04.1 When the 3D viewing software paraview is executed in a x2go session, it does not start, but yields the error below: $ paraview X Error: BadLength (poly request too large or internal Xlib length error) 16 Major opcode: 18 (X_ChangeProperty) Resource id: 0x30001da This problem does not appear in older versions of x2go. I could not find a workaround for the problem. Any hints are welcome. OS: Ubuntu 16.04 Xenial Paraview - Version 4.4.0 NXAGENT - Version 3.5.99.16

Bug#1328: x2gobroker-daemon does not work with tornado >=5.0

Package: x2gobroker Version: 0.0.3.4 (0x2go1+git20180206.1037+8) When using python2-tornado >= 5.0 with the latest x2gobroker the x2gobroker-daemon does not start and following error message is shown in the log files: Traceback (most recent call last): File "/usr/bin/x2gobroker-daemon", line 306, in <module> launch_ioloop() File "/usr/bin/x2gobroker-daemon", line 281, in launch_ioloop tornado.ioloop.IOLoop.instance().start() File "/usr/lib/python2.7/site-packages/tornado/ioloop.py", line 939, in start raise RuntimeError("Cannot share PollIOLoops across processes") RuntimeError: Cannot share PollIOLoops across processes This issue was tested against tornado versions 5.0.2, 5.1.0 and 5.1.1 and this error always occurs.
