I managed to make both libssh and x2goclient build on MinGW 4.8 + Qt 4.8.6 on my home desktop. (I did not fix bug #566 in the process (yet).) I will release a 4.0.3.0 preview build later today, built from my home desktop with them. I will also try to update the X2Go-WinBuilder VM, the build scripts, and jenkins, such that nightly builds can be built in both MinGW 4.4 + Qt 4.8.5 and MinGW 4.8 + Qt 4.8.6. If it turns out to be too much work, I'll just update them to only build in MinGW 4.8 + Qt 4.8.6. However, I'd want some testing/feedback of the preview build 1st.

EPEL-7 nightly builds...

Hi all, I have for now disbabled our (regularly failing) nightly builds of X2Go development snapshot packages for upcoming RHEL7 with EPEL-7 support. The people at Redhat seem to change repo URLs more often than other people change their socks. Thus, let's wait for the new RHEL7 release to consolidate more... Bug#599: X2Go fails to launch gnome-fallback properly on distros other than Debian and Ubuntu

Package: x2goserver Version: 4.0.1.15 Severity: normal In /usr/bin/x2goruncommand , the logic for deciding to launch the "gnome-fallback" session instead of the default instead of "gnome" session is specific to Debian and Ubuntu. The same is true for "gnome-2d", and "gnome-flashback". (Although there are bugs in gnome-session preventing gnome-flashback from working with X2Go. See X2Go bug #598.) Rather than adding logic for every other distro, I have prepared a patch that is distro-neutral. It looks for the presence of session files under /usr/share/gnome-session/sessions/ to decide which session to (attempt to) launch. It uses the following priority: gnome-flashback (GNOME 3.8 and later) gnome-fallback (GNOME 3.4 and GNOME 3.6) gnome-2d (GNOME 3.2) gnome (GNOME2, or gnome-shell on GNOME3) I tested it on openSUSE 12.3 (GNOME 3.6) successfully. Without this patch, GNOME gives a warning dialog saying that it could not launch a regular session and had to resort to a fallback session. With this patch, it does not give that warning (because the fallback session was intentional.) I also tested Ubuntu 12.04: No regression -Mike#2

Bug#598: GNOME3 flashback session refuses to launch on Debian 8 jessie

Package: x2goserver Version: 4.0.1.15 Severity: normal The problem appears to be that the current version of source & binary package "gnome-session", 3.12.1-3 (in both jessie and sid), checks for hardware 3D acceleration even when launching GNOME flashback session, which does not require acceleration. There is probably also a problem with the composite extension not being available (or not being new enough.) x2goserver will probably need to pass an argument like "--disable-acceleration-check" to gnome-session, once that argument is implemented by gnome-session. So I figured I'd report this bug against x2goserver. Dear Mike, You can find useful information on libssh's failure to build below http://permalink.gmane.org/gmane.comp.audio.csound.devel/27287 It seems that libssh's 0.6.3 pthread.c was written against an aging pthread header, so I've attached a patch. You can also try solving the problem the other way around (which is not recommended) just to see what happens. I have included a patch for mingw32 that restores the obsolete structure. If you are brave enough to test it, remember not to apply (to un-patch) the first patch. The two patches are mutually exclusive. -George

As a precaution. I am reverting from this version of mingw 4.8.2 (-rev4) http://sourceforge.net/projects/mingw-w64/files/Toolchains%20targetting%20W… To this version (-rev3), the exact version that Qt 4.8.6 instructions you to use: http://sourceforge.net/projects/mingw-w64/files/Toolchains%20targetting%20W… Reverting did not fix the libssh build failure, George's patch did though. I will send another email about that.
