Bug#525: x2goclient.exe shows "arrow and hourglass" cursor for 5 seconds during startup

Package: x2goclient Version: 4.0.2.1-pre01 Hi, x2goclient for Windows up to 4.0.0.3 used to look "frozen" for a fraction of a second during startup. With 4.0.2.0, that annoying effect was suddenly gone, possibly due to the change to the new pulseaudio version. It is also not present in the nightlies up until 2014-06-11. 4.0.2.1-pre01 now exhibits a similar, slightly annoying behavior: When run by double-click from a folder view, it displays an "arrow and hourglass" cursor on Windows 7 x64 for approximately 5 seconds during startup. It does not happen when the same x2goclient.exe is run from the commandline. There, response is instantaneous like in 4.0.2.0 and in the nightlies up to 2014-06-11. I have no explanation for that effect, but maybe one of our devs can shed some light on this? -Stefan

Bug#615: NX proxy cannot start in Ubuntu 14.04 when the user's home dir has accented characters

Package: x2goclient Version: 4.0.2.1 Client OS: Ubuntu 14.04.1 LTS Application: x2goclient 4.0.2.1-0~614~ubuntu14.04.1 Server OS: Ubuntu 14.04.1 LTS Application: x2goserver 4.0.1.15-0~847~ubuntu14.04.1 When I invoke x2goclient and my home dir has accented characters (as in josé), nxproxy fails with a Loop: PANIC! error. Undeniably, Linux applications do not expect path names to have non-English characters. Imho, nxproxy should report such abnormalities to allow applications that call it to exit gracefully or report to the user the cause of the problem. Debug output is attached. George Trakatelis

As Mike mentions, the problem *could be* solved by teaching people what x2go suspend currently means. That can work but to me... its not natural. It reminds me of an old cartoon where a plumber had installed the hot & cold shower controls backwards (hot=cold, cold=hot)... The plumber was talking to the homeowner telling him... "Hey... its simple... when you take a shower just remember "H" means - Holy cow thats Cold ! <g> Brian

A suggested patch is to substitute the Qt4 toAscii() function with toLocal8Bit() in two specific places of SshMasterConnection::run(). Bug#583: Yes, it is probably vxcsrc.exe crash

You are probably right that this is vxcsrv.exe crash. Could I switch on some debugging in order to see what is happening? Anyway my experience is that the crash happens about 7-12 minutes after minimizing the vxcsrc window and after new connect, my session is not suspended. I have to start the session from very beginning. So my problem is probably not related to bug #511.
