X2Go Client Usage page on the wiki

Hi all, There is one page that is really important but totally bullshit on our wiki: http://wiki.x2go.org/doku.php/usage:x2goclient Can someone fix this page (any X2Go user can do that). Make some nice screen shot, explain how to configure your first session, etc. THANKS SO MUCH!!! locale problem

I have a problem with the locale in my client session. I have set the locale on my remote client and on the server to "de_DE.UTF-8". This also works well in OpenNX sessions but with X2goclient I see within the client session nothing translated into German due to the locale not applied well. Within the remote client session in any terminal I get this: [andyrtr@workstation64 ~]$ locale LANG= LC_CTYPE="POSIX" LC_NUMERIC="POSIX" LC_TIME="POSIX" LC_COLLATE="POSIX" LC_MONETARY="POSIX" LC_MESSAGES="POSIX" LC_PAPER="POSIX" LC_NAME="POSIX" LC_ADDRESS="POSIX" LC_TELEPHONE="POSIX" LC_MEASUREMENT="POSIX" LC_IDENTIFICATION="POSIX" LC_ALL= Any idea? Hi Alex, Mike(?) I just saw parec running and producing unneeded traffic. In onmainwindow.cpp:10577ff it says: QString scmd="PULSE_CLIENTCONFIG=~/.x2go/C-"+ resumingSession.sessionId+ "/.pulse-client.conf "+ "parec 1> /dev/null & sleep 1 && kill %1"; What is the rationale behind this code? As far as I understand it, parec is supposed to run for one second. I'm not sure that that is what the code does. Cheers Morty -- Dipl.-Ing. zlib Performance

Hi there, lately I have noticed some performance issues. When starting with X2Go I found that using 16m-rgb with WAN network provided the best performance. It seems that at least on my system (FitPC3 Pro) the Zlib compression of the WAN configuration introduced a significant impact (did some tracing). Thus now the 16m-rle and the LAN configuration provides way better performance, not bringing my client CPU to 100% when scrolling. This of course might be closely related to turning off the GLX extension, as I'm working on a 27'' screen and thus those performance improvements (e.g. by copying parts of the screen around) are not possible any more. Hi there, I tryed to clean up the wiki a bit. Especially the installation and usage section to make it easier for newcommers to find the information needed. Most of the installation stuff is now in the "installation" name space. Thus I'd like to request two things: 1) Show all pages of a namespace in the navigation (e.g. when clicking on "Installing X2Go" all pages in that name space should be shown. 2) Please install the pagemove plugin and move the x2go-repository-* pages to installation. Currently a lot of the usage stuff links to the components namespace. IMO we should get rid of the components namesapce, move the usage information to the usage namespace and the background information to the development namespace. Comments? Morty
