Help with Printing

Hi All: We're hoping to get some help setting up printing for an x2go Debian squeeze server. FYI - with help, we got this going about a year ago and may be rusty but hopefully are not making old mistakes. SYMPTOM When we try to print from both an Ubuntu and Win7 machine, with the settings set to generate a pdf that can be printed to local printers, we see no x2o cups printers and neither evince on Ubuntu nor acrobat on Win7 start. SETUP We used the following link (the server is Debian squeeze): http://www.x2go.org/doku.php/wiki:x2go-repository-debian And did the following: apt-key adv --recv-keys --keyserver keys.gnupg.net E1F958385BFE2B6E touch /etc/apt/sources.list.d/x2go.list (added to x2go.list) # X2Go Repository deb http://packages.x2go.org/debian squeeze main # X2Go Repository (sources) deb-src http://packages.x2go.org/debian squeeze main aptitude update aptitude install x2go-keyring && aptitude update aptitude search x2go (just to confirm packages had been installed) apt-get install x2goserver apt-get install x2goserver-xsession apt-get install x2goserver-printing apt-get install cups-x2go Cups was installed on the server as a result of the original install, so we made no changes there. We then generated ssh keys and created authorized_keys on the server, and moved id_rsa over to the clients. We also added x2gouser to sshd_config as an allowed user. >From there we could connect to the server via x2go client, but get the symptoms described above when we try to print. We checked groups, and there is both an x2user and x2goprint group. We tried adding our user to the x2goprint group, as well as x2goprint to our sshd_config as an allowed user with no change. Last time around, Alex updated the cups-x2go file which we assume is now part of the install and added "x2goprint ALL=(ALL) NOPASSWD: /usr/bin/x2goprint" as a sudo entry. While we don't think Debian uses sudo the way Ubuntu does, we tried adding that line via Visudo and it made no difference. Is this a password/permissions issue? Maybe an iptables issue that is blocking sftp? We tried turning on file sharing in the GUI, but don't see the shared folder (we don't use file sharing, so we may not know what we are looking for). Our line in sshd_config for sftp is "Subsystem sftp /usr/lib/openssh/sftp-server". Any suggestions? Thanks! Ted

Suggestion regarding the new bug tracker

Hi list, I would suggest moving the bug reports to a new mailing list, if that is technically possible, say, one named x2go-bugs. That way, x2go-dev would be available for discussions regarding further development, "is-this-a-bug-or-am-I-doing-it-wrong", feature enhancements etc. and x2go-bugs would be for the bug-tracking grunt work. General ideas: - Every coder should subscribe to x2go-bugs as well. - Feature requests that have been agreed upon on x2go-dev should be CCed to x2go-bugs *by the coder willing to pick up the task* to avoid dupes. - Using two different lists will make it easier for list-newbies on x2go-dev that may not yet know how to properly set up a filter rule (central vs. individual administration). - Cross-posting bug reports from the bug-hunting mailing list to x2go-dev will be allowed/tolerated for a limited amount of time until we can be sure all the relevant developers are subscribed to x2go-bugs (or whatever name we'll end up with). - The automatic signature on x2go-dev should be amended with "before posting a bug, please check <web page of bugtracker or web page of x2go-bugs ML archive> if your problem is already known.". - Should an inexperienced list member post a new bug on x2go-dev, one of the more experienced list members (preferably one of the devs) should pick it up and reply with a message like "added to tracker, id is <foo>, see <link to Tracker/ML archive)>, thanks for reporting the issue." - A similar approach would be in order for already known bugs, WONTFIXes etc. Comments, anyone? -Stefan

bug#21: DirectRDP: button for , , terminate session'' actually just suspends the DirectRDP session

Package: x2goclient Version: 3.99.3.0-prerelease Severity: minor The x2goclient GUI in its middle (where the session log details can be viewed) has a couple of buttons, the most on the left is for ,,terminate session''. With DirectRDP, this button does not terminate the session, it simply terminates the RDP session. This is equal to a ,,suspend session'' call. Does RDP logic have a mechanism to terminate a session from outside the session? If so, this should be implemented. bug#20: Keyboard focus without window manager

Hi all, I played a little more with x2goclient, window focus, keyboard focus. x2goclient is not able to gain keyboard focus in the main or in subwindows if no window manager is running.
