Proxy versus broker?

Hello, all. I was delighted to see the pending release of proxy capability. Is this at all related to the project undertaken quite a while ago to create a "broker", i.e., to have a single publicly exposed site to which users would connect and then be directed to their appropriate X2Go Server? We currently struggle with assigning unique X2Go servers (and we use one per user via VServer) unique ports to avoid consuming countless public IP addresses. It would be so much easier of all could connect to a single device and have that device broker the connection to their internal X2Go Server. Thanks - John

Bug#41: Tarballs installation of nx-libs

Package: x2goagent Severity: minor Version: 3.5.0.15 The installation from tarball is quite broken in nx-libs (I guess we never addressed it as we have the Debian packaging). the code in nx-X11 is installed to /usr/lib/NX3. It should get installed to $(PREFIX)/lib/nx Putting this in my queue... python-x2go fails to build on launchpad

Hi Reinhard, Python X2Go fails to build on Launchpad for Ubuntu lucid currently. This is due to the missing --with python2 addon feature in debhelper 8.0.0, I guess. You uploaded debhelper 8.0.0 to ppa:x2go/ppa already. Would it make sense to provide a newer version of debhelper via our ppa? This, I guess, then has to be in ppa:x2go/ppa and ppa:x2go/stable. Bug#39: x2goclient lacks AppleScript scripting support on Mac OS X

Package: x2goclient Version: 3.99.2.2 Severity: minor It is currently impossible to control x2goclient on Mac OS X using AppleScript, except for blindly sending keypress commands. So, tell application "x2goclient" activate end tell tell application "x2goclient" set miniaturized of window 1 to true end tell fails, while tell application "x2goclient" activate tell app "system events" keystroke "h" using command down end tell end tell works *unless* x2goclient is currently busy (e.g. performing a login sequence), in which case the command is ignored. A well-behaved app can be controlled like explained here: http://laclefyoshi.blogspot.de/2010/10/google-chrome-ver.html (drag and drop app icon on AppleScript editor icon; list of available properties shows up) Trying this with x2goclient returns an error message that x2goclient is not scriptable. -Stefan

Issues/Quirks with MAC client

Hi list, I'm currently experimenting with x2goclient 3.99.2.2 on Mac OS X and this is what I've found "weird/fix-worthy" so far: 1) PulseAudio stutters (just like it does in the current MS-Windows client) 2) when x2goclient is called with "--hide", there is no way to access the "Published Applications" menu 2.1) there is no way to start published applications from the dock (compare right-click on systray icon on MS-Windows) 2.2) there also is no way to start published applications from the x2goclient menu on the upper screen border Re: 1) I'm not sure what we can do about this; it seems Mihai's attempts to make the PulseAudio developers aware of the issues have failed. :-( The other issues look like they could be fixed by the x2go-devs, though, so I'm posting my suggestions here: Re: 2) "--hide", on Windows (and probably also on Linux, though I never checked it there), means "hide-to-systray", so parts of the application remain accessible via right-click (context menu). I guess a sensible action on Mac OS, when "--hide" is used, would be to do a "minimize" by going straight to the Dock on startup, but, upon clicking the Dock icon, show the usual screen (just like after un-minimizing any other app). This is under the assumption that "2.1)" simply doesn't work on Mac OS. An alternative would be to remain "hidden", i.e. without a visible window on screen, and offering a pull-down menu with all published applications on the top menu bar ("2.2)"). Now, before anyone starts coding away on this, I'd like to see some feedback from the Mac users here: a) Where do you expect to find a list of published applications? b) Is there a UI styleguide by Apple that says this must/must not/should/should not be done in a particular way? -Stefan
