3.99 Testing - Return from full screen mode not working

This is also a Windows only issue. When in full screen mode there is no way to exit it other than <Alt><Tab>. The standard ways of leaving full screen (magic pixel in top right, Alt-Ctl-F, or Alt-Ctl-M) do not work. Hmm . . . come to think of it, I do not think I tried Alt-Ctl-Enter but I am not in Windows now to test it - John

3.99 Testing - Clean up of old installations

It does not seem that we do a good job of cleaning up after ourselves in Windows after uninstalling. Perhaps this is intentional but I would think we should at least give an option for complete removal. While working on the packing problem, I scoured through file system and registry to ensure I had cleaned everything. The ~/.x2go directory remained in place after uninstalling. We also left the registry entries in place. I also noticed there were Cygwin entries in the registry. I do not know if these were left over from the 3.0.1-4 installation or from Pyhoca. We do not want to delete them if there is an independent Cygwin installation but, if the only one is the one installed by an old x2goclient, I would think we should remove references to it in the registry - John

3.99 Testing - Task bar icon does not disappear on close

Small item on Windows. After clicking on exit on the x2goclient task bar icon, the icon does not disappear. I need to mouse over the task bar again for it do disappear - John

3.99 Testing - Alt tab not working as expected in full screen

I would expect that <ALT><TAB> would operate within the X2Go desktop when in full screen mode. Arguably, we might even want it when in Windowed mode or at least as a toggleable option. It is not behaving that way. In some ways, that is fortuitous because of the bug of not being able to leave full screen mode - <ALT><TAB> is the only way I have seen to escape. I know this can work because Phil had it working in our labs although I'm not sure it that was in all modes or only rootless. I do not know if is is simply a command line switch we need to pass to vcxsrv but not having it has an impact on end user productivity. Thanks - John

3.99 Testing - knotify: no process found

We should remove the non-NX methods? @John: I currently am logged in on from my Debsqueeze notebook to an x2goserver in my office (LAN) that draws in 3 rdesktop session from three machines via DSL (WAN, 3500bit/s). All three work very smoothly while at the same time another host here draws backups from some servers on the internet... I use 16m-png-jpeg-9 for that. 3.99 Testing - Very serious issues with image packing

Hello, all. This seems to be the most serious and potentially showstopping issue I've found. It is a Windows only issue. It does not occur in our Linux client testing. Something is seriously wrong with image packing. I'm guessing this has something to do with NXAgent 3.5 but I'm really not sure. It first appeared when I install Pyhoca which I am assume pulled in the new agent. On the other hand, reverting to 3.0.1-4 did not fix the problem which has me very suspicious. I am writing from Linux right now but I will test that again later. If it is not the nxagent or the 3.99 client, then we'll need to find whatever it was that Pyhoca pulled in. I did uninstall ghostscript and vcxsrv after uninstalling Pyhoca. I can confirm that the problem persists even after backleveling to 3.0.1-4 so I'm not sure that this is specifically 3.99 but it is a crippling problem. On to the actual problem. We normally use 16m-png-jpeg packing which seems to give us the fastest performance and crispest looking screen on our WAN only environment. I'm honestly not sure what this setting controls. I assume it means we are compressing png and jpeg images as opposed to the default 16m-jpeg which then only compresses jpegs? I don't know what the 16m is - is that the size of the cache? When we use that from a Windows client now, all the images are thoroughly corrupted and unusable. This was noticeable in the desktop icons and in the KDE splash screen. We changed the packing to 16m-jpeg and thought the problem went away because the splash screen and desktop icons appeared properly. Our enthusiasm was short-lived. All jpegs seems to be corrupt. The only way we could get a non-corrupt screen was to use nopack but that made for lousy performance especially when scrolling a graphics intensive page such as www.wsj.com or www.cnn.com. Interestingly, even after upgrading, the client details screen says we are running NXPROXY - version 3.4.0. I don't know what in the Pyhoca installation caused this but completely removing Pyhoca and previous x2goclient installations from both file system and registry and installing 3.99 has not fixed the problem. x2goclient version bumping -> 3.99.0.0

Hi devs, today I had a chat with Alex about x2goclient, the versioning, the next major version (Baikal) of x2goclient, etc. o we have bumped the version to 3.99.0.0 in Git o the next major stable release will be 4.0.0.0 (x2goclient/Baikal) o Oleksandr will build a Windows x2goclient with that same version number Packages for Debian are building currently, they will enter the nightly builds repos as well as the ,,main'' repos. Please go ahead and test these new versions, please. Report issues to the x2go-dev mailing list, so that we get as many issues fixed before calling the thing 4.0.0.0.
