added x2goversion script in x2goserver package

Hi devs, for supporting a more flexible client concept around X2go I have been thinking about a way of realizing server-client handshaking. Basically, the client-side can benefit from knowing individual versions of server-side installed X2go components. Yesterday, as a manifestations of this thinking process I have added an x2goversion script to the x2goserver package. It basically shows the server-side versions of installed X2go components. For the man page, refer to: http://code.x2go.org/gitweb?p=x2goserver.git;a=blob_plain;f=.build_man2html… These server-side component versions are obtained from /usr/share/x2go/versions/VERSION.<x2go-comp> I have added the respective files for all server-side components in X2go's Git (base dir of each Git project: VERSION.<x2go-comp>): x2goserver, x2gognomebindings, x2gotrinitybindings, x2goplasmoidbindings, x2godesktopsharing, cups-x2go, x2goagent I have omitted the NX packages with this X2go version patch as NX code is actually not our code, so we cannot rely on retrievable version with those code projects for every Linux distribution on the market. Hello, >From an announcement list I would expect a low volume list what gives information when a new version arrives or when there are security issues or when there is a congress or something like that. But the x2go announcement list [1] does completely something else, what I see are many change-messages from git-admin: https://lists.berlios.de/pipermail/x2go-announcement/2011-April/thread.html I think it would be better to change the usage of the announcement list and to make it an informative low volume list. iPAD now has X and ssh

Hello, all. We've received a number of queries about running X2Go on an iPAD. My understanding to this point is that the absolute fundamentals are missing. However, I was recently sent the following: i-SSH for the iPad comes up well in reviews: Description A full featured SSH and Telnet emulator of VT100, VT102, VT220, ANSI, and xterm terminals integrated with a tunneled VNC client and an X server Customer Reviews Great SSH client by Mikaey0 This is definitely a great SSH client. Everything I use works as I expect it to when connecting to my box at home. Definitely nice to see a working X server for the iPad as well! Amazingly functional by Nick75985 Continues to amaze me with new functionality I discover. Never crashed on me. Incredibly full-featured and useful app. by quantumonion Edit: Wow, TextExpander support just added! If an app could give you goose bumps, iSSH would be that app. Only two suggestions come to mind. 1. TextExpander support (done!) 2. Native Dropbox support for the connection list It's possible to save the connection list to Dropbox with the export to clipboard feature, but it'd be great to offer an option to auto-sync any changes automatically. The above are just nits though. This has become one of those indispensable apps that you'd have to pry my cold dead fingers off of before I'd give it up. Given the above, what would it take to get X2Go to run on an iPAD using i-SSH? Is anyone interested if giving it a run? It's definitely outside of our skill set. Thanks - John

nxproxy and nxcomp uploaded to Ubuntu Oneiric

Hello, I just finished testing nxproxy and nxcomp with x2goclient, python-x2go and qtnx on Ubuntu Oneiric. Test was successful with no regression that I could see. So I now have: - nxproxy 3.5.0-1-0ubuntu1 - nxcomp 3.5.0-1-0ubuntu1 Uploading in Oneiric, packages will be available to all users in a few minutes. As I mentioned earlier, I've been basing these two uploads on a clean NoMachine tarball and re-applied the changes from the existing Debian package and from x2go's git. They can all be found in the (relatively well documented) debian/patches/ directory of the source packages. The resulting binary packages are lintian-clean with lintian 2.5 though some have "I:" tags warnings that should be fixed in the future (library symbol and some fixes for the manpage), lintian output attached. I'll now start working on python-x2go, making sure it's in shape to be added to the Ubuntu archive and will get it uploaded so hopefully it should be in Ubuntu by the end of next week (it needs to go through quite extensive review as it's a new package). x2goclient 3.0.1.18 fails due to missing files + workaround

Hello list! the compilation of the x2goclient 3.0.1.18 fails due to missing files xsettingsui.ui, xsettingswidget.cpp, xsettingswidget.h. Those files are actually residing in ./x2goclient/* but Makefile expects them in the current directly. Instead of adjusting the Makefile, I simply moved the files to the parent directory. discussion on newly released NXv3.5 packages and X2go on pkg-x2go-devel

Hi all, for those being able to contribute (and not subscribed to pkg-x2go-devel on Alioth), I would like to make you aware on a discussion thread around newly released NXv3.5 sources in relation to X2go. Thread: http://lists.alioth.debian.org/pipermail/pkg-x2go-devel/2011-May/thread.html Latest NX 3.5 release http://www.nomachine.com/download.php Ubuntu is probably about to use these new NX libs for X2go in Ubuntu. The current approach is also to make nxagent itself work with X2go (which might not be what we want, as x2goagent has been patched by Alex quite a bit already). The Ubuntu developer, Stéphane Graber, who is really keen to get X2go into Oneiric, is very co-operative and interested in X2go / Python-X2go. His objective is to keep everything (X2go Git, Debian, Ubuntu etc.) compatible, assure that patches are shared and that the code base is in sync, etc. But still, we (x2go-dev upstream) have to find a disposition on the dual-upstream issue around NX libs. In x2go-upstream we have to discuss if our nx* packages in Git are actually a hijack (as NoMachine still seems to be active around NX 3.5). Due to the latest NXv3.5 release by NoMachine there now exists a dual-upstream situation... This should have been avoided and now has to be dealt with. Currently, I see two possibilities (for X2go into Debian without bringing up namespace issues), but I might be lacking sight here: 1. We make X2go work with NoMachine's NX 3.5 (complemented through a patchset provided by X2go, this patchset may not break NX functionality -> qtnx, freenx, etc., but improve functionality with X2go). 2. We really fork NX libs, nxproxy (as already happened with x2goagent). That would mean a renaming of libraries and also Git projects etc, e.g.: x2goproxy, x2gocomp, x2gocompext, x2gocompshad. Please stay tuned around this topic and contribute to the discussion, if possible. Again, how about working on Debian inclusion. I am not involved with Ubuntu policies too much. Will there be syncs between Oneiric and Debian sid in the future? Or is that pathway already closed? If closed then I suggest you do your work for Oneiric but for the Ubuntu p-series we count on Debian sid?
