x2goserver still has old version number scheme

Hi devs, hi all, @all: as many of you might have realized... we have changed the upstream version numbering scheme for X2go sligthly: version numbers like 1.2.3-4 have been changed into 1.2.3.4 @devs: the only package in Git that still has not been updated to the new scheme is the x2goserver package. Are there any objections to kick a release (3.0.99.6) in Git to make this version numbering scheme conversion complete (regarding projects in Git)? A reason for putting this on the agenda is a dependency fix in the x2goserver package for Debian/Ubuntu (depends on xbase-clients). Heinz, Alex? BTW: this would also affect the x2gomimebox feature recently pushed to Git and the latest patches for x2goprint. Will those be accepted? Launchpad PPA, derive more stable packages from nightly-builds

Hi Reinhard, hi Morty, I have added tags to X2go Git projects called ,,build-main''. Do you see any chance of building X2go packages on Launchpad that reflect the build-main tag state automatically? The build-main tag may stand for: ,,packages from this ppa can be considered as rather stable and you (the X2go user) can use these for systems that require some liability.'' x2goserver depends on xauth?

Hi there, today I installed the x2goserver package (Debian build in main area on code.x2go.org as in Git tag build-main) on a fresh server. After installation I could not login to the X2go server. I then simply installed the xinit package and then log-in worked. However, I think that it rather might have been the xauth package that was missing on the system - and got installed as a dependency of xinit. I think we should add xauth to x2goserver as dependency (or x2goagent?)!?! x2go buildscripts

Hi again, (sorry for spamming the list...) I have added a buildscripts.git project to X2go Git over the weekend: http://code.x2go.org/gitweb?p=buildscripts.git;a=summary This Git project will take up all the helpers that I use to administrate the Git server and also scripts that help building packages automatically with pbuilder/qemubuilder. Python X2go on Ubuntu lucid

Hi Reinhard, for Python X2go on Ubuntu lucid two dependencies are not fulfilled with default lucid systems: python-gevent (>=0.13.1-1) python-setproctitle (>=1.0.1-1) If we add the python-x2go & co. packages to the X2go PPA (nightly-builds) can we also add those two as dependencies? They do not need to be build regularly, they just have to be in the same repository. Both packages are available in Maverick, so they may be backported from there. What is the best strategy for this with Launchpad tools? Nichtmal Vorschläge um das Problem einzugrenzen wurden gemacht... wie z.B. folgender Code für /usr/bin/x2gopgwrapper direkt hinter den Shebang: for var in "$@" do if [[ ! $var =~ ^[A-Za-z0-9/_.-]+$ ]] then echo "blocked" exit 1 fi done

Nightly Ubuntu packages

Hi there, with a bit of help of Reinhard I have set up a ppa [1] containing nightly builds for Ubuntu Lucid and Maverick. Using this ppa allows simple installation and testing of nightly builds. Please remember that these are nightlys, pulled directly from GIT [2], and therefore not necessarily stable builds. There will be a ppa containing releases and it is also might be that there will be another ppa containing "tested" builds in the future (if there someone is willing to maintain it). Currently there are no builds for Karmic Hardy and Dapper, as this might cause some extra work testing. (I personally don't see any trouble adding them, if there is someone willing to test and maintain them.) Also no Natty as nxcompext does not build (Feel free to look into it [3]).
