x2go Windows Client under Win7 - Xming.exe funktioniert nicht mehr

Good morning, we have people accessing a Debian x2go installation. Some are using Linux based clients. They work without a hitch. The problem are the people using Windows 7. They are unable to work with the client for more than a minute or two. We have a Java App running on the server (ADempiere), and the latest released x2go-client 3.01-4 How can we pinpoint what is going wrong? Any and all help is greatly appreciated. Connection waiting

Hi, I would like to know if I'm the only one in this case. I've installed x2go client and server (with the normal and the heuler repos), on two fresh installations of Ubuntu 10.04. I can start the client, and try a connection. But it stalls to "connection", and nothing happens. With desktop sharing I can see my local connections, but when I click on "view only" or "full control" nothing happens too. x2go was perfectly working with Ubuntu 10.04 upgraded from 9.10. But with a fresh install of Ubuntu it won't work. Regards, gml

BUG?: plugin stuck in auth rejection

Using plugin 3.01-11. I logged into a session and then later terminated that session. However, the session termination was a little strange in that it kept respawning connection processes and then terminating over and over. So I press the Back button to go back to the plugin website page. There I reload and relaunch the plugin. then I put in my password and now it refuses to log me in. Here are the errors: The remote proxy closed the connection while negotiating the session. This may be due to the wrong authentication credentials passed to the server. Problems on Debian Squeeze

Is there any special magic to running X2Go on Debian Squeeze? We upgraded an x2goserver to Squeeze from Lenny and we can no longer connect. The X2Go client just says connecting. We can see the ssh sessions are established and it looks like x2gostartagent is running. The database is set up and running. The users are members of x2gousers, fuse, various pulse groups. We changed the default shell from dash to bash as, if I recall correctly, there are functions in the X2Go bash scripts that are not supported in dash. We reinstalled X2Go after remembering that. We deleted all the old .Xauthority files. We double-checked /etc/ssh/sshd_config to ensure we had X11 Forwarding enabled. We can run X apps like xterm and kate via an ssh connection. I'm not entirely sure where to look next without major troubleshooting. Is anyone using X2Go on Squeeze successfully? Thanks - John

latest plugin testing

Heinz, I ran some tests with the latest plugin today and here are some things I noticed: When displaying a single rootless app, as soon as I place the cursor over the title bar it kills the window. Only happens with the x2go remote app window. Running gnome-terminal natively either locally or remotely displays it correctly. But, when I displayed a single rootless app (gnome-terminal) from a user that had Wine installed, the border was the same as all my other local windows but the palette and menues were all Wine styled and looked like Windows 98. Remote shares work fine. Printing did not work - no spool mount. DPI and compression do not set on whole desktops. They do set on single rootless apps. That's everything I've noticed so far. Gerry

use thin client CPU resources

Hi x2go-folks, here is another question to the developers... When talking to school teachers here in Kiel, there was a very central demand to thin client work stations: run application on the thin client hardware. in schools this is needed for: o accessing USB-devices like LEGO mind storm robots etc. o starting development environments on the thin client CPU (e.g. eclipse) so that programming of ROBOT devices can be tested locally o play media (DVD, AVI on CD or USB-Stick) on the thin client o start firefox locally (but with the user's profile), esp. because of flash media, but also animations on websites As I know, in LTSP there is a solution for that (a weird bash script called ltsp-localapp or so). My question: is there also an idea or an approach for x2go how local CPU usage of thin clients could be implemented? I suppose, there is no implementation yet, is it? My basic idea of how it could be done: o mount $HOME of the x2goserver on the client via sshfs, this mount should be tunneled through the main SSH connection (I know this is the other way round compared to x2goprint spool dir and shared folders... this might need some work and ideas before we go into deatails) o issue a script call on the thin client o set some environment variables on the thin client from within this script ($HOME, $USER etc.) o let the x2goclient start the local app (like firefox, vlc, mplayer, eclipse) As this is probably the most needed feature herearound I'd love to go into detail with this issue sometime in August/September. Patches for shared database, vserver virtualization, and multi-server CUPS print server

Hello, all. We recently found a condition where the VServer patches we submitted conflict with the x2golistsessions script running on the X2Go Servers. We have revised the patches. Since most of the patches seemed to get lost in the LinuxTag excitement and never posted, I'll repost them all in dependency order. No offense taken if they are deemed useless. We need them for our environment and just thought we'd share them. Improvements are always welcome. They can probably be reworked so they can be configurable options rather than complete replacements for many of the scripts but we have not had time to be that elegant. Thanks - John
