Bzzt.  The error is on my side. I actually reversed the parameters.
" 2>&1 >/dev/null" will not make the whole thing go silent.
That's what " >/dev/null 2>&1" does.

With " 2>&1 >/dev/null", STDERR still gets printed.  So you could
simply use " >/dev/null" for the same effect.
