You maybe need a bit more than a symlink. We use a wrapper script:
http://code.x2go.org/gitweb?p=nx-libs.git;a=blob;f=debian/wrappers/nxproxy
What happens if you launch nxproxy manually? Normally, it should show
some help information. If any library is missing, it will refuse to
launch and not show that help information.
