                         (Version 7, June 4, 1998)

          Copyright (C) 1994, 1995, 1997, 1998 Aladdin Enterprises,
            Menlo Park, California, U.S.A. All rights reserved.

     NOTE: This Licence is not the same as any of the GNU Licences
     published by the Free Software Foundation. Its terms are
     substantially different from those of the GNU Licences. If you are
     familiar with the GNU Licences, please read this licence with
     extra care.

Aladdin Enterprises hereby grants to anyone the permission to apply this
Licence to their own work, as long as the entire Licence (including the
above notices and this paragraph) is copied with no changes, additions, or
deletions except for changing the first paragraph of Section 0 to include a
suitable description of the work to which the licence is being applied and
of the person or entity that holds the copyright in the work, and, if the
Licence is being applied to a work created in a country other than the
United States, replacing the first paragraph of Section 6 with an
appropriate reference to the laws of the appropriate country.

0. Subject Matter

This Licence applies to the computer program known as "GSview."
The "Program", below, refers to such program. The Program is a copyrighted
work whose copyright is held by Ghostgum Software Pty Ltd (the "Licensor").

A "work based on the Program" means either the Program or any derivative
work of the Program, as defined in the United States Copyright Act of 1976,
such as a translation or a modification.

BY MODIFYING OR DISTRIBUTING THE PROGRAM (OR ANY WORK BASED ON THE PROGRAM),
YOU INDICATE YOUR ACCEPTANCE OF THIS LICENSE TO DO SO, AND ALL ITS TERMS AND
CONDITIONS FOR COPYING, DISTRIBUTING OR MODIFYING THE PROGRAM OR WORKS BASED
ON IT. NOTHING OTHER THAN THIS LICENSE GRANTS YOU PERMISSION TO MODIFY OR
DISTRIBUTE THE PROGRAM OR ITS DERIVATIVE WORKS. THESE ACTIONS ARE PROHIBITED
BY LAW. IF YOU DO NOT ACCEPT THESE TERMS AND CONDITIONS, DO NOT MODIFY OR
DISTRIBUTE THE PROGRAM.

1. Licences.

Licensor hereby grants you the following rights, provided that you comply
with all of the restrictions set forth in this Licence and provided,
further, that you distribute an unmodified copy of this Licence with the
Program:

(a) You may copy and distribute literal (i.e., verbatim) copies of the
     Program's source code as you receive it throughout the world, in any
     medium.
(b) You may modify the Program, create works based on the Program and
     distribute copies of such throughout the world, in any medium.

2. Restrictions.

This licence is subject to the following restrictions:

(a) Distribution of the Program or any work based on the Program by a
     commercial organization to any third party is prohibited if any payment
     is made in connection with such distribution, whether directly (as in
     payment for a copy of the Program) or indirectly (as in payment for
     some service related to the Program, or payment for some product or
     service that includes a copy of the Program "without charge"; these are
     only examples, and not an exhaustive enumeration of prohibited
     activities). The following methods of distribution involving payment
     shall not in and of themselves be a violation of this restriction:
     (i) Posting the Program on a public access information storage and
          retrieval service for which a fee is received for retrieving
          information (such as an on-line service), provided that the fee is
          not content-dependent (i.e., the fee would be the same for
          retrieving the same volume of information consisting of random
          data) and that access to the service and to the Program is
          available independent of any other product or service. An example
          of a service that does not fall under this section is an on-line
          service that is operated by a company and that is only available
          to customers of that company. (This is not an exhaustive
          enumeration.)
     (ii) Distributing the Program on removable computer-readable media,
          provided that the files containing the Program are reproduced
          entirely and verbatim on such media, that all information on such
          media be redistributable for non-commercial purposes without
          charge, and that such media are distributed by themselves (except
          for accompanying documentation) independent of any other product
          or service. Examples of such media include CD-ROM, magnetic tape,
          and optical storage media. (This is not intended to be an
          exhaustive list.) An example of a distribution that does not fall
          under this section is a CD-ROM included in a book or magazine.
          (This is not an exhaustive enumeration.)
(b) Activities other than copying, distribution and modification of the
     Program are not subject to this Licence and they are outside its scope.
     Functional use (running) of the Program is not restricted, and any
     output produced through the use of the Program is subject to this
     licence only if its contents constitute a work based on the Program
     (independent of having been made by running the Program).
(c) You must meet all of the following conditions with respect to any work
     that you distribute or publish that in whole or in part contains or is
     derived from the Program or any part thereof ("the Work"):
     (i) If you have modified the Program, you must cause the Work to carry
          prominent notices stating that you have modified the Program's
          files and the date of any change;
     (ii) You must cause the Work to be licensed as a whole and at no charge
          to all third parties under the terms of this Licence;
     (iii)
          If the Work normally reads commands interactively when run, you
          must cause it, at each time the Work commences operation, to print
          or display an announcement including an appropriate copyright
          notice and a notice that there is no warranty (or else, saying
          that you provide a warranty). Such notice must also state that
          users may redistribute the Work only under the conditions of this
          Licence and tell the user how to view the copy of this Licence
          included with the Work. (Exceptions: if the Program is interactive
          but normally prints or displays such an announcement only at the
          request of a user, such as in an "About box", the Work is required
          to print or display the notice only under the same circumstances;
          if the Program itself is interactive but does not normally print
          such an announcement, the Work is not required to print an
          announcement.);
     (iv) You must accompany the Work with the complete corresponding
          machine-readable source code, delivered on a medium customarily
          used for software interchange. The source code for a work means
          the preferred form of the work for making modifications to it. For
          an executable work, complete source code means all the source code
          for all modules it contains, plus any associated interface
          definition files, plus the scripts used to control compilation and
          installation of the executable code. If you distribute with the
          Work any component that is normally distributed (in either source
          or binary form) with the major components (compiler, kernel, and
          so on) of the operating system on which the executable runs, you
          must also distribute the source code of that component if you have
          it and are allowed to do so;
     (v) If you distribute any written or printed material at all with the
          Work, such material must include either a written copy of this
          Licence, or a prominent written indication that the Work is
          covered by this Licence and written instructions for printing
          and/or displaying the copy of the Licence on the distribution
          medium;
     (vi) You may not impose any further restrictions on the recipient's
          exercise of the rights granted herein.

If distribution of executable or object code is made by offering the
equivalent ability to copy from a designated place, then offering equivalent
ability to copy the source code from the same place counts as distribution
of the source code, even though third parties are not compelled to copy the
source code along with the object code.

3. Reservation of Rights.

No rights are granted to the Program except as expressly set forth herein.
You may not copy, modify, sublicense, or distribute the Program except as
expressly provided under this Licence. Any attempt otherwise to copy,
modify, sublicense or distribute the Program is void, and will automatically
terminate your rights under this Licence. However, parties who have received
copies, or rights, from you under this Licence will not have their licences
terminated so long as such parties remain in full compliance.

4. Other Restrictions.

If the distribution and/or use of the Program is restricted in certain
countries for any reason, Licensor may add an explicit geographical
distribution limitation excluding those countries, so that distribution is
permitted only in or among countries not thus excluded. In such case, this
Licence incorporates the limitation as if written in the body of this
Licence.

5. Limitations.

THE PROGRAM IS PROVIDED TO YOU "AS IS," WITHOUT WARRANTY. THERE IS NO
WARRANTY FOR THE PROGRAM, EITHER EXPRESSED OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING, BUT NOT
LIMITED TO, THE IMPLIED WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY AND FITNESS FOR A
PARTICULAR PURPOSE AND NONINFRINGEMENT OF THIRD PARTY RIGHTS. THE ENTIRE
RISK AS TO THE QUALITY AND PERFORMANCE OF THE PROGRAM IS WITH YOU. SHOULD
THE PROGRAM PROVE DEFECTIVE, YOU ASSUME THE COST OF ALL NECESSARY SERVICING,
REPAIR OR CORRECTION.

IN NO EVENT UNLESS REQUIRED BY APPLICABLE LAW OR AGREED TO IN WRITING WILL
LICENSOR, OR ANY OTHER PARTY WHO MAY MODIFY AND/OR REDISTRIBUTE THE PROGRAM
AS PERMITTED ABOVE, BE LIABLE TO YOU FOR DAMAGES, INCLUDING ANY GENERAL,
SPECIAL, INCIDENTAL OR CONSEQUENTIAL DAMAGES ARISING OUT OF THE USE OR
INABILITY TO USE THE PROGRAM (INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO LOSS OF DATA OR
DATA BEING RENDERED INACCURATE OR LOSSES SUSTAINED BY YOU OR THIRD PARTIES
OR A FAILURE OF THE PROGRAM TO OPERATE WITH ANY OTHER PROGRAMS), EVEN IF
SUCH HOLDER OR OTHER PARTY HAS BEEN ADVISED OF THE POSSIBILITY OF SUCH
DAMAGES.

6. General.

This Licence is governed by the laws of the State of Victoria,
Australia, excluding choice of law rules.

If any part of this Licence is found to be in conflict with the law, that
part shall be interpreted in its broadest meaning consistent with the law,
and no other parts of the Licence shall be affected.

<p>
  Obtain GSview (gsv50w32.exe) from
</p>
  <blockquote>
    <a href="http://www.cs.wisc.edu/~ghost/gsview/get50.htm">
    http://www.cs.wisc.edu/~ghost/gsview/get50.htm

<p>
  Obtain GPL Ghostscript 9.02 (gs902w32.exe) from
</p>
  <blockquote>
    <a href="http://www.cs.wisc.edu/~ghost/doc/GPL/gpl902.htm">

  </blockquote>
<p>
  First install the GPL Ghostscript self extracting archive
  gs902w32.exe (or a later version if available)
  Then install the GSview self extracting archive gsv50w32.exe.
  Run GSview.
</p>
<h4>
Win32 location details
</h4>
<p>
  By default, GSview is installed in the directory
  <tt>c:\Program Files\Ghostgum</tt>, which creates the sub-directories
  <tt>c:\Program Files\Ghostgum\gsview</tt> and
  <tt>c:\Program Files\Ghostgum\pstotext</tt>.
  The GSview executable is
  <tt>c:\Program Files\Ghostgum\gsview\gsview32.exe</tt>.
</p>
<p>
  By default, GPL Ghostscript is installed in the directory
  <tt>c:\gs</tt>, which creates the sub-directories
  <tt>c:\gs\gsN.NN</tt> and <tt>c:\gs\fonts</tt>.
  The GPL Ghostscript executables are
  <tt>c:\gs\gsN.NN\gswin32c.exe</tt> for console mode and
  <tt>c:\gs\gsN.NN\gswin32.exe</tt> for windowing mode.
</p>
<p>
  GSview normally locates GPL Ghostscript using registry
  entries created by the GPL Ghostscript setup program.
  If these do not exist, GSview will assume that Ghostscript
  is in an adjacent directory to GSview, usually
  <tt>c:\Program Files\Ghostgum\gsN.NN</tt>
  and <tt>c:\Program Files\Ghostgum\fonts</tt>.
</p>

<p>
  First install the GPL Ghostscript self extracting archive
  gs902w64.exe (or a later version if available)
  Then install the GSview self extracting archive gsv50w64.exe.
  Run GSview.
</p>
<p>
  This version requires that you have a 64-bit x64 processor
  (AMD64 or EM64T), and that you are also running a 64-bit
  version of Windows such as Windows XP x64 Edition.
  It will not run on the more common 32-bit Windows XP.
</p>

<h3>
OS/2
</h3>
<p>
  Obtain GSview (gsv49os2.zip) from

  GSview to a temporary directory, change to the gsview2 subdirectory,
  place gs860os2.zip (or a later version) in the same directory,
  and then run os2setup.exe.
</p>

<p>
  If you do not already have EMX installed on your system, you will
  also need to obtain the EMX Run Time library, emxrt.zip,
  from one of
</p>
  <blockquote>
    <a href="ftp://ftp-os2.cdrom.com/pub/os2/emx09d/emxrt.zip">

    </a>
  </blockquote>
<p>
  If GSview refuses to run at all, make sure you do not have
  an old version of the emx DLL on your system.
</p>

<p>
  GSview (gvpm.exe) will run under OS/2 2.1 and OS/2 Warp.

X11/Unix
</h3>
<p>
Copy <tt>gsview</tt>, <tt>gsview-help</tt>, <tt>epstool</tt> and
<tt>pstotext</tt> to a directory on your search path.
Copy <tt>gvx*.htm</tt> to the directory <tt>/usr/share/doc/gsview-N.N</tt>.
Copy <tt>printer.ini</tt> to directory <tt>/etc/gsview</tt>.
GSview stores configuration information in <tt>$HOME/.gsview.ini</tt>.
</p>

<p>
You must have the <b>shared object</b> version of Ghostscript 7.04 - 9.19,
which should be included in recent GNU/Linux distributions.
If you don't have the ghostscript shared object,
you must first install Ghostscript, then the additional shared
object files. To build the ghostscript shared object files,
use '<tt>./configure ; make so</tt>'
</p>

<p>
A precompiled version is available for GNU/Linux.
GSview can also be compiled for SunOS and SGI IRIX.
</p>

<h3>General</h3>
<p>
Make sure that the zip/exe files are transferred in binary mode.
</p>

<p>
The Ghostscript fonts are used by Ghostscript alone. Your system
Fonts folder will not be modified.
</p>

<p>
If you don't like automatic installation programs, it is
possible to install GSview and Ghostscript manually.
For Ghostscript, read the file
    <a href="http://www.cs.wisc.edu/~ghost/doc/cvs/Install.htm">
    gsN.NN\doc\Install.htm.
    </a>
For GSview, read the file
    <a href="gsviewen.hlp">
    gsviewen.hlp
    </a>
</p>

<p>
If you wish to use install GSview without any prompts, give
a destination directory on the command line. For example:
</p>
  <blockquote>
  setup "c:\Program Files\ghostgum"
  </blockquote>
<p>
This will not prompt for a destination directory and will
overwrite files without asking.
</p>

<p>
Configuration of GSview will occur the first time it is run.
</p>

<p>
See the
    <a href="gsviewen.hlp">

<h2>
<a name="Compilation"></a>
Compilation
</h2>
<p>
To compile GSview for Windows you need MS Visual C++ 5, 6, 7, 7.1, 8 or 9.
Copy srcwin/win.mak to Makefile, edit Makefile to set
<tt>VCVER</tt> and <tt>DEVBASE</tt> as required, then type '<tt>nmake</tt>'.
To build for Win64 use '<tt>nmake VCVER=71 WIN64=1</tt>'
</p>

<p>
To compile GSview for OS/2 you need IBM NMAKE.EXE and EMX/GCC 0.9d.
To create the GSview online help you need the IBM toolkit.
Copy srcos2/os2.mak to Makefile and edit COMPBASE and EMXPATH as required.
Type 'nmake'
</p>

<p>
To compile GSview for X11/Unix you need gcc and the GTK+ 1.2 toolkit.
Unzip the sources as follows to convert the line endings:
<pre>
  unzip -aa gsv49src.zip
  unzip -o gsv49src.zip "gsview-4.9/binary/*"
  cd gsview-4.9
  cp srcunx/unx.mak Makefile
  make
</pre>
GSview may also be available in a tar.gz file which already has
Unix line endings.
To install, run <tt>make install</tt>
See the <a href="#X11">X11/Unix</a> topic for more notes
on X11 GSview.
For SunOS or SGI IRIX, uncomment the appropriate lines in the makefile.
You also be able to use
<pre>
  rpmbuild -ta gsview-4.9.tar.gz
</pre>
</p>

X11 GSview is written by a novice at X Windows programming.
It might have serious problems.
The GTK+ toolkit is used for most of the graphical interface,
with a very small amount of Xlib.
</p>
<p>
GSview on Unix uses the Ghostscript shared object.
Drawing (especially over a network when using anti-aliased text)
should be faster.

<ul>
<li> Help uses HTML and netscape.
    Gnome Help Browser is not used because it doesn't
    support #topic on the command line. For example:
      gnome-help-browser file:/path/gsview.htm#Page_Size
    If you know of a way to tell the Gnome Help Browser to
    jump to a particular topic, particularly without opening
    another copy of the browser, please let me know.

Known problems
</h3>
<ul>
<li> Fit window doesn't get the correct dimension of the scrolled window

   At the moment we use the size of the scroll window less the

<h1>
GSPRINT - Ghostscript print to Windows printer
</h1>
<p>
GSPRINT uses Ghostscript to print a PostScript file to
a Windows printer. Using Ghostscript alone you can print
using a number of inbuilt printer drivers for specific
printers (e.g. djet500, ljet4), or you can use the driver
mswinpr2 which talks to the Windows printer driver.
The mswinpr2 driver (which I wrote) is very slow for
printers that claim to support colour.
GSPRINT tells Ghostscript to produce a bitmap, and then
sends this to the Windows printer driver more efficiently
than the old mswinpr2.
</p>
<p>
GSPRINT requires AFPL Ghostscript 6.50 or later.
</p>

<h2>
Usage
</h2>
<p>
Typical usage would be
</p>
<blockquote>
  gsprint golfer.ps
<br>
  gsprint -colour colorcir.ps
</blockquote>
<p>
You may need to configure gsprint with a gsprint.cfg file.
See the configuration section below.
</p>
<p>

<p>
Defaults are -mono -noquery -noprinter -all
<br>
Unrecognised options are passed on to Ghostscript.
<br>
The filename to print must be the last option.
</p>
<p>
If neither -query nor -printer are used (the default),
the default printer will be used. This is equivalent
to -noquery and -noprinter.
</p>
<p>
-all overrides -odd, -even, -from and -to.
<br>
DSC comments are ignored.
<br>
-odd, -even, -from and -to operate by rendering every page
but only sending the selected pages to the printer.
<br>
Printing one page out of a 200 page document using "-from 100 -to 100"
will result in a long wait before and after the page is printed.
<br>
If using "-from 10 -odd", the first page printed will be 11.
</p>
<p>
The last occurence of -mono, -grey, -colour is used.
</p>
<p>
Page size and margins cannot be set from the command line.
These are obtained from the printer driver. To change the
page size, change your printer settings.
</p>
<p>
Ghostscript options that must not be used are:
</p>
<pre>
  -r
  -g
  -sDEVICE=
  -sOutputFile=
  -sPAPERSIZE=
</pre>
<p>
These are either used by, or interfere with gsprint.
</p>
<p>
Possible future options are:
</p>
<pre>
 -twoup
 -scale NN.NNN
 -papersize A4
</pre>

<h2>
Configuration
</h2>
<p>
If you installed AFPL Ghostscript 6.50 or later using
the self installer, gsprint will automatically use the
latest copy of Ghostscript on your system. Otherwise you
will need to specify <b>-ghostscript name</b>.
</p>

<p>
Before reading any command line options, gsprint.exe attempts to
read options from gsprint.cfg in the same directory as gsprint.exe.
In this file you should place the most common options.
For example:
</p>
<pre>
   -mono
   -ghostscript
   "c:\program files\gs\gs8.53\bin\gswin32c.exe"
   -I"c:\program files\gs\gs8.53\lib;c:\program files\gs\fonts"
</pre>
<p>
With a configuration file like this, you can print a monochrome
PostScript file with
</p>
<blockquote>
  gsprint golfer.ps
</blockquote>
<p>
or a colour file with
</p>
<blockquote>
  gsprint -colour colorcir.ps
</blockquote>
<p>
Config file options must be one per line.
Other configuration files may be used with the command line
option "-config filename.cfg"
</p>

.SH "DESCRIPTION"
\fBpstotext\fR reads one or more PostScript or PDF files, and writes to
standard output a representation of the plain text that would be
displayed if the PostScript file were printed. As is described in the
DETAILS section below, this representation is only an approximation.
Nevertheless, it is often useful for information retrieval (e.g.,
running grep(1) or building a full\-text index) or to recover the text
from a PostScript file whose source you have lost.
.PP
\fBpstotext\fR calls Ghostscript, and requires Aladdin Ghostscript
version 3.51 or newer. Ghostscript must be invokable on the current
search path as gs. Alternatively, you can use the \-gs option to
specify the command (pathname and options) to run Ghostscript. For
example, on Windows you might use \-gs "c:\\gs\\gswin32c.exe
\-Ic:\\gs;c:\\gs\\fonts".
.PP
\fBpstotext\fR reads and processes its command line from left to right,
ignoring the case of options. When it encounters a pathname, it opens
the file and expects to find a PostScript job or PDF document to
process. The option \- means to read and process a PostScript job from
standard input. If no \- or pathname arguments are encountered,
\fBpstotext\fR reads a PostScript job from standard input. (PDF
documents require random access, hence cannot be read from standard
input.) You can use the \-output option to specify an output file
(remember to invoke it \fIbefore\fR the input file); otherwise
\fBpstotext\fR writes to standard output.
.PP
The option \-cork is only relevant for PostScript files produced by
dvips from TeX or LaTeX documents; it tells \fBpstotext\fR to use the
Cork encoding (known as T1 in LaTeX) rather than the old TeX text
encoding (known as OT1 in LaTeX). Unfortunately files produced by
dvips don't distinguish which font encodings were used.
.PP
The options \-landscape and \-landscapeOther should be used for
documents that must be rotated 90 degrees clockwise or
counterclockwise, respectively, in order to be readable.
.PP
The options \-debug and \-bboxes are mostly of use for the maintainers
of \fBpstotext\fR. \-debug shows Ghostscript output and error
messages. \-bboxes outputs one word per line with bounding box
information.
.SH "DETAILS"
\fBpstotext\fR does its work by telling Ghostscript to load a
PostScript library that causes it to write to its standard output
information about each string rendered by a PostScript job or PDF
document. This information includes the characters of the string, and
enough additional information to approximate the string's bounding
rectangle. \fBpstotext\fR post\-processes this information and outputs
a sequence of words delimited by space, newline, and formfeed.
.PP
\fBpstotext\fR outputs words in the same sequence as they are rendered
by the document. This usually, but not always, follows the order that
a human would read the words on a page. Within this sequence, words
are separated by either space or newline depending on whether or not
they fall on the same line. Each page is terminated with a formfeed.
If you use the incorrect option from the set {\-portrait, \-landscape,
\-landscapeOther}, \fBpstotext\fR is likely to substitute newline for
space.
.PP
A PostScript job or PDF document often renders one word as several
strings in order to get correct spacing between particular pairs of
characters. \fBpstotext\fR does its best to assemble these strings
back into words, using a simple heuristic: strings separated by a
distance of less than 0.3 times the minimum of the average character
widths in the two strings are considered to be part of the same word.
Note that this typically causes leading and trailing punctuation
characters to be included with a word.
.PP
The PostScript language provides a flexible encoding scheme by which
character codes in strings select specific characters (symbols), so a
PostScript job is free to use any character code. On the other hand,
\fBpstotext\fR always translates to the ISO 8859\-1 (Latin\-1) character
code, which is an extension to ASCII covering most of the Western
European languages. When a character isn't present in ISO 8859\-1,
\fBpstotext\fR uses a sequence of characters, e.g., "\-\-\-" for em dash
or "A\\226" for Abreve. \fBpstotext\fR can be fooled by a font whose
Encoding vector doesn't follow Adobe's conventions, but it contains
heuristics allowing it to handle a wide variety of misbehaving fonts.
.PP
(\fBpstotext\fR no longer translates hyphen (\\255) to minus (\\055).)

pstotext 1.9 - PostScript text extractor. Requires Ghostscript.

The files pstotxt1.dll (Win16), pstotxt2.dll (OS/2) pstotxt3.dll (Win32), and
pstotext.zip (sources) constitute the pstotext package, which was written by
Paul McJones and Andrew Birrell of Digital Equipment Corporation's Systems
Research Center. These files are copyright by Digital Equipment Corporation.
You may use them subject to the attached END USER LICENSE AGREEMENT.

The source files are available in the GSview source distribution,
or directly from the authors:
    http://www.research.digital.com/SRC/virtualpaper/pstotext.html

You can build DLL and command-line versions of pstotext for various
platforms from the sources:
    PLATFORM     BUILD FILE
    Unix         Makefile
    Win16        pstotxt1.mak
    OS/2         pstotxt2.mak
    Win32        pstotxt3.mak (Borland C++ 4.5)
    Win32        pstotxtv.mak (Microsoft Visual Studio)
    VMS          descrip.mms

pstotext was developed as a part of the Virtual Paper system, which is
a high-quality viewer for computer-generated or scanned documents.
See:
    http://www.research.digital.com/SRC/virtualpaper/

We appreciate Russell Lang's willingness to incorporate pstotext in
GSview, and his help in redesigning the API to the DLL module and in
debugging the final version. We thank Hunter Goatley for the VMS
port.

Version 1.9 is a modification of 1.8h to recognise excessive space in
"ashow" as being a word separator, as found output from groff 1.08.
Also fixed widthshow, awidthshow and added xshow, yshow and xyshow.
Uses ANSI prototypes. These are now required, not optional.
Fixes a number of compiler warnings.
Note that neither of the original authors still work at DEC/Compaq/HP.
2004-01-09 by Russell Lang at Ghostgum Software Pty Ltd.

Version 1.8h is a modification of the original 1.8 to allow
operation with Aladdin Ghostscript 6.0, to add -output to
Windows and OS/2 executables, and to insert line breaks
and form feeds is pstotext output. Modifications made
2000-07-15 by Russell Lang at Ghostgum Software Pty Ltd.
main.c changed to use mkstemp not tempnam for Unix,
